Egg-like proportions
The name speaks for itself, at least it does in
Hungarian. Toya means egg. The armchair is
inspired by the contours of an egg: namely the
gradual widening of the rounded upper section
before it narrows into the lower section.
How are the two related? The silhouette of the
backrest is derived from the top half of an egg,
and the seat from the bottom half. The rounded
wooden frame keeps Toya in balance.

Several sides
A naturalistic boulder shape.
Ton sur Tooon is a nod to ‘ton sur ton’: the concept
revolves around nuances. Having an eye
for nuances, introducing nuances. What happens
when you look at something from a different
angle, introduce a slight twist, change the
material?
Kicking off the concept was the oval room divider:
an architecture of oval wooden planks
and metal uprights in a rounded L-shape. The
latter create distinct, asymmetric impressions.
On one side, your gaze meets a closed surface;
whilst on the other you are looking into an open
compartment.
The planks are available in lengths of between
100 and 400 cm, whilst the uprights are always
35 cm tall. The empty space in the upright can
be used for books, as a wine rack, or to showcase
other items. The open space between
the two uprights can be filled with cabinet elements
and drawer units. Do you have two room
dividers? You can connect these with a clothes
rail to make a wardrobe.
The next step was the Ton-sur-Tooon table,
set on legs in the same rounded L-shape. The
organically shaped tabletop is a naturalistic
copy of a real boulder. The circumference of the
stone has been enlarged to create a tabletop
measuring 237 x 193 cm, spacious enough to
seat 8 to 10. The smaller alternative measures
177 by 132 cm. One thing is absolutely certain;
the boulder shape is unique.
The tabletop is available in veneer, lacquered
and cemented using a Swiss process. The
aqua concrete is applied by hand in 3 layers,
before being sanded and primed. The drying
time in between these takes a week. The aqua
concrete is itself water and grease-resistant. In
spite of this, it is still finished with a transparent,
two component boat varnish.
In parallel to this exclusive model, a light version
has been launched. In this case, the tabletop
is simply geometric and laminated.
In short, Ton sur Tooon has been crystalised
into an all-round and diversified concept, suitable
for the home and contract markets, and for
big and small budgets.
