vacancy.
> You must pass an initial assessment in English &
maths or have recently gained GCSE grades 4 or
above in English & maths.
> You will need to attend an interview.
About the apprenticeship
As a Golf Greenkeeper, you will be responsible for the
maintenance, care and overall appearance of a golf
course.
You will learn how to maintain a good quality playing
surface as well as undertaking environmental and
ecological operations, bunker maintenance, laying
turf, planting trees & shrubs plus developing wildlife
habitats.
Topics will cover the preparation of the golf course
for play, using specialist equipment to maintain &
renovate turf surfaces, applying turf treatments
& controlling weeds, fungal diseases and pests &
turf disorders, alongside maintaining & renovating
bunkers, maintaining drainage & irrigation systems,
how to identify plants and trees, plus soil & plant
biology and basic computer skills.

About the apprenticeship
This apprenticeship prepares you for various roles in
horticulture, including maintaining landscapes, parks
and public gardens.
You will learn to plan, develop and maintain
landscaping for gardens, parks and other green
spaces. You will learn to cultivate soils, control plant
pests, identify plants and learn the principles of their
growth & development. You will also be taught how
to use machinery and ways to reduce waste.
