Australian folk, rock and
blues singer/songwriter
Kim Churchill will make
his way to the Blue Mountains
next month for an
intimate show at the Baroque Room at
the Carrington Hotel.
A night of storytelling and reflection,
Kim will be launching the final EP,
‘Again’, off his four-part EP collection;
‘I Am Forgetting The End Again’.
Spending most of his time living and
touring out of his camper van, Kim
wanted to document his experiences
travelling the country and overseas.
“The places I travel sort of morph
who I am, so I wanted to record each
one in a different part of the world to
allow different reflections and create
colour and vibrancy through music
on the basis of my experiences,” Kim
said.
“The first was recorded in Berlin, the
second Canada, the third in the Blue
Mountains and the fourth in Devon in
the UK, so in a way they are travel logs
and a beautiful expression of how I felt
and the people I met in those places.”
With the process of each EP varying,
Kim said he was worried about the
project as a whole but said his core
sound runs throughout.
“I was concerned the sound would
be so drastically different across the
EPs and thought it would be hard to
make it a coherent body of work but
you know I am so deeply involved in
what I am doing realistically when it
was all said and done it was all me,”
he said.
“The producers all attacked things
from different angles as well but as a
full body of work it is a nice journey
through the sounds and feelings that
really reflect the vibe and energy of
each place.”
Last performing in Katoomba in
March 2020, he said a special guest
will join him for the upcoming performance.
“This gig will be really beautiful
because my cellist Joshua Luke Rea
will be there, so it is an exciting style
of show and he adds to my one man
band,” he said.
Kim said playing in the Blue Mountains
is a special experience.
“I get so excited to play shows in the
Blue Mountains because the audience
in that whole surrounding area has
such a beautiful respect and passion
for live music,” he said.

Room in Katoomba on Sunday, December
5 at 3pm and 7pm. Tickets
