Tanya About Town Following the low-key Christmas of last year, I think we’re all ready to embrace the festivities 2021 has to offer. What better way to celebrate than to eat, drink and be merry! Making headlines for all the wrong reasons last year, the Winter Wonderland is back in Nottingham and with it comes the chance to enjoy tasty treats as you soak up the amazing Christmas atmosphere. Festive events will also spread to Trinity Square, where a speciallyconstructed Christmas Village with a number of food and drink options will see visitors entering via a Christmas Tree-lined entrance leading to a winterthemed setting that features a number of igloo-style glass domes. (Running until 31st Dec) Enjoy foodie fun without the calories at Squire Performing Arts Centre, Arboretum Street, with Too Many Cooks At Christmas. A festive family show full of food inspired fun and adventure! The production promises to be a sizzling, scrumptious show jam packed with tasty tunes, popping puppets and a lot of festive foolery! (19 December) Fancy a break from the traditional festive fayre? Enjoy an evening of Mediterranean and Middle Eastern Meze with Brazilian Jazz and Soul music by the Nayla Yenquis Group at Peggy’s Skylight. (2 Dec) For a Christmas dinner with a difference, We Wish You a Merry Murder at the Justice Museum looks worth a visit. It’s 1927. The roaring twenties show no sign of slowing down. A dazzling Christmas party is taking place in Nottingham’s Shire Hall, hosted by movie star Frankie Faulkner. There’s bound to be trouble… even murder! Join this evening of intrigue, accusations and suspicion – complete with cocktails and laughter. Tickets also include a three-course Christmas meal and a welcome cocktail. (20 Dec) Finally, why not celebrate with a Festive Afternoon Tea. There are several options around. You could try Slug & Lettuce who are serving theirs in their beautiful instagrammable birdcages; the Lace Market Hotel are offering seasonal favourites including turkey and cranberry sandwiches, apple and cinnamon scones with mulled berry jam and mini mince pies; or Browns whose festive selection includes sandwiches: prawn and baby gem lettuce, turkey and cranberry, cucumber and cream cheese, heritage hen egg mayo brioche roll, smoked salmon and cream cheese on whisky and thyme oat cake, warm scones plus mini mince pies, Victoria sponge, lemon drizzle cake, almond macarons and chocolate mousse flowerpots.
