from
EDITOR
@Pixeltoy
Here we are in December 2021. For our #frens in the northern
hemisphere Winter is at your doorstep. For us antipodeans humid
days after weeks of rain heralds Summer. The earth spins, day turns
to night and the seasons roll on. Wherever you are, whatever your
timezone, welcome to #Shill zine- glad to have you here.
The lull across the market has seen some heavy hits to bluechip
projects this last week. SMB floor at 140, Thugbirds floor at 40,
DegenApes at 30. Paperhands turn to papie mache as they sweat it
out with prices tumbling.
Just remember...
These projects did NOT get to where they are today overnight. It
took them months of community building before momentum
kicked in and the floor began to rise. Cyberkong floor is 75eth now
($352500usd). I remember when I had the chance to buy secondary
at 1eth!
Patience.
Perhaps the most difficult skill to learn and master in both crypto
trading and nft collection.
Patience.
4
SHILL Issue #17

Patience is what it takes to make a play and stick to your
understanding of a project. Did you research the project? Do you
understand the fundamentals? Is the community ‘alive’? Is there life
on social media?
You didn’t buy into SMB at 40/100/140Sol because you wanted a
quick flip. Not if you truly understood what you were buying (think
CryptoPunks!). You did not buy DegenApes at 60/80/100 hoping for
a quick flip after seeing what the community is capable of doing
(think BAYC). You sure as hell didn’t buy into DeGods or LitJesus for
a quick flip (think Cyberkong).
Hell, I was not going to miss Solanauts when they minted. Even
though they were a 7sol mint the project was limited to 500, had
and still HAS a highly active Discord. The devs are active on social
media and always keen to join a Twitter space.
It’a all about patience. If you haven’t got that...god help you, you are
in for a rough time!
As a little green sage once said
PATIENCE
CELEBRITY
CYBORG
SOCIETY
For issue 17 we have the pleasure of running a few questions
by @Paleocrypto. A relative nexcomer to the NFT scene with
HUGE potential. To begin with let’s learn a little bit about the
team behind Celebrity Cyborg Society. When and where did
the concept come about?
Thanks for your interest. Prior to sharing the first Celebrity
Cyborgs on Twitter last week, it was mostly just me, Travis,
aka PaleoCrypto, working by myself. The idea came to me
around Halloween, just as I was transitioning onto Solana,
from a vague curiosity, I guess, to explore my anxieties about
post-humanism within the context of pop culture & PFPs. All
things I was thinking about a lot at the time. Celebrity worship
is something that feels very modern & decadent to me, and
AI is this massively intimidating force that I can’t understand,
that feels like it might crush us, so I wanted to bring these
two things together. People have asked if CCS is meant to
be satire and, honestly, I don’t really know. It’s both satirical &
deadly serious.
CCS as a project is very new to NFT but at the same time has
created some impressive work as listed on Holaplex. How
did you come about working on the Solana platform?
Blockchain technology is only the second thing in my life
that’s ever made me feel optimistic on a grand scale (the first
being punk music in the early 90s) and a huge part of that
optimism is blockchain’s potential to benefit the developing
world, to level the playing field, so to speak, to legitimately
decentralize. That’s the long game. All of this becomes
incompatible with high gas fees and, once I accepted this
(which admittedly took a while), I started researching L1
ecosystems beyond Ethereum. Before long I inevitably found
my way to Solana & am so thankful to be here — the support
& generosity of the community is like nothing I’ve ever
experienced before. What’s happening at this crossroads of
technological, creative, & social innovation is still sinking in
for me, I can’t even begin to fit my head around it. As far as
the nuts & bolts go, I’ve found minting / listing / selling to be
relatively intuitive, especially with a huge amount of support
along the way from the Holaplex team and a few individuals
who, luckily for me, reached out early to offer assistance and
share their literacy of the space.
The Discord has a few things going on. What are some of
the things the team has come up with to create utility for its
members?
For starters, as more Cyborgs are released and a community
continues to build around them, I’m trying to remove myself
from the curation process as much as possible. An early
example of this is empowering holders to give input on
which Celebrities should be included in upcoming drops. By
the fourth round of CCS releases on Holaplex, the Cyborgs
being minted were entirely curated by holders of the first
three rounds. Beyond that, I’m just trying to attract supportive
people and listen to them. I’m doing my best to absorb
information & ideas from all these creative people who are
so savvy & knowledgeable, and I’m grateful to encounter so
much enthusiasm so early in the process. Solana definitely
helps make those connections.
I believe your project is up to its 3rd round of NFT listings.
The first 2 rounds all went to winning bids. Were you
expecting this sort of response for a newcomer?
No, not at all, but I’m so thankful. I’m thrilled CCS is
resonating with people. After working on this project in
solitude for so long, it was nice to just start putting the
artwork out there. Everything beyond that is an unexpected
bonus.
SHILL Issue #17 9

The creative process behind CCS must be labour intensive.
What background experience helps you achieve the look and
feel of your NFTs?
It’s labor intensive, yes, but it’s not stressful. I look forward
to it. Prior to NFTs, I was immersed in video production
& filmmaking for almost two decades, doing a lot of stop
motion social media campaigns for big household brands.
The pressure for perfectionism (that I mostly put on myself)
was always intense. For example, when I was animating sixsecond
video loops for the Chicago Bulls, I allowed myself no
excuses for not making every frame as perfect as I possibly
could, since it was within my control & my scope to do that.
But with creative coding and generative art, which is all very
new to me, that’s not the case, that pressure is not part of
the equation. It’s beyond my control. Now I build the creative
process, not the creative product, and it’s much nicer this way.
Are you considering where to next with CCS?
Oh absolutely, I’m considering that most of the time from
when I wake up to when I fall asleep again, and even
sometimes while I’m sleeping. I’ve really fallen down a rabbit
hole. The high-level plan is to keep a slow, steady drop of
Celebrity Cyborgs going until we reach a total of 1,337 of
them, and to keep building the community in the meantime,
to listen to what everyone has to say. I never expected
everything to go in this direction so soon so I can’t pretend to
know exactly where CCS will go from here (although I do look
forward to the day when an IRL celebrity has their own Cyborg
in their wallet). Whatever comes down the road, it will be fun,
because of the people getting involved.
Finally, perhaps we haven’t touched on something that you
would like to discuss? Anything you would like to add?
Well, I just want to express my appreciation again for the
warm welcome. There’s no denying the creative explosion
taking place on Solana, it’s like a renaissance in the truest
meaning of the word, and it’s still so early. It feels like the right
place at the right time. I’m grateful, I’m excited, I’m ready. Let’s
fucking go!
@NotLinkkzyy
THE
SOLANA
PLUG
TRIPPY BUNNY FLOOR/HOLDER ANALYSIS. I’m going to start with
the blanket details. Total supply - 1111 Total listed supply - 180 - 16%
Unique holders - 763 (Only unlisted unique holders.) Floor - 7 SOL
Median price - 19 SOL Floor Marketcap - $1,573,132
Let’s get technical. Thick, Thin and How much pump? Solanart holds
the most listed bunnies @ 79. 32 of these are in the resistance band
of 7-20 SOL. So, if we assume this 40% resistance applies to ALL listed
bunnies = 76 Bunnies in resistance. 50% of these sit at 10-20 SOL.
Applying these stats, we can assume 50% of the 76 listed bunnies in
resistance will cost between 7-10 SOL. = 38 x 8.5 SOL = 323 SOL to
12
SHILL Issue #17

enter 10-20 SOL range. 38 x 15 SOL = 570 SOL to break resistance. Totalling at
893 SOL to break resistance or $178,600
Holder statistics and importance. Out of the 763 Unique Bunny holders 656,
yes… Six hundred and fifty fucking six only hold ONE bunny. ONE. That’s 60% of
all bunnies delisted being held INDIVIDUALLY. Roughly 70% are held by unique
holders of varying amounts.
Now, tell me another project that has 60% of their supply held both individually
and uniquely. None. The non-mathematic variables are easily observable. Bunny
floor has held steady and the community REFUSES to list. They just KEEP HOLD-
ING. This is PRIOR to our upcoming stuffs.
I cannot leak the two products we’re working on releasing to trippy bunny but I
believe they will be worth the 7 SOL entry. Now, if you’re a flipper. Why would you
care? Well, the median price is 3x the floor. Three times!
Analytically and mathematically this is one of the most sound purchases you
can on $SOL NFTs rn. This project changed the entire game, the utility and dev
work has been slow as a total lack of funding. Why? WE DONATED IT ALL BABY.
This is wholesome, tight knit community.
You should DYOR and all the details I’ve listed can be found here: https://solanafloor.com/nft/trippy-bunny-tribe…
I will continue to accumulate with high conviction
because 76 sales, roughly, stand between a 3x. But man, they’re about to
offer so much more than a 3x. But hey, I’m just a guy typing.
GREEN
CHIP
POTENTIAL
@jo_zark
@StonedApeCrew is different. Here is why.
The art is looking unique and obviously appealing to a lot of people.
They are reminiscent of
@BoredApeYC, but they are so different that it would simply be
wrong to call them copycats.
Elaborated staking and breeding mechanics. If you look at recent
projects like @BoryokuDragonz
and @TaiyoRobotics, this concept seems to be pretty successful.
Now the most important point: THE COMMUNITY IS INSANE. Okay...
every community says this about themselves. But I think this is unlike
everything we have seen in the Solana NFT space till now.
Drugs create strong relationships. It is what it is, they somehow
connect people. When people consume “drugs” like weed, it changes
their state of mind. Everything seems more fun and exciting.
Highly enjoyable/emotional states are more memorable. Cues about
14
SHILL Issue #17

the drug tend to trigger desirable memories associated with a good
mood and cheerfulness.
Weed often means a lot to the stoner due to the accessibility of
all these happy memories. And of course, if someone else shares
this interest in something you are passionate about, you are apt to
perceive some good vibes with that person.
This is the same with almost everything. Imagine meeting someone
in a bar that is also into crypto. You would be inclined to talk with him
about NFTs and share your thoughts.
Weed establishes this connection vibes even stronger than common
interests due to the altered state of mind. Smoking pot is more than
“just another interest”, for many people it is a way of life.
I can’t think of other project where people feel connected in such
a way. This alone should be enough for a community for blue chip
potential. But this project does something else that makes it even
more unique.
The apes can have one of 4 Roles:
• Scientist
• Farmer
• Businessman
• Artist
Another way to find a subset of that group you are connected with
anyway, in order to establish even deeper relationships based on
shared interests.
There is a lot more coming: - Sophisticated breeding/mutation/
evolution mechanics of NFTs - Established $Puff market - Physical
coffeeshop. This community will be having an IRL meet up spot.
Insane.
Therefore I am so bullish about the @StonedApeCrew. It’s different.
Looking forward for other communities to build around clearly
defined target groups.
Not necessarily other drugs, but what about the techno community,
skater community or street artists? I think that just liking e.g. robots
will lose against stronger interest groups in the long run.
Forgot to say that they have special units inside the community like
the “420 Secret Service” and the ,”420 SEALZ” That’s cool man.
SHILL Issue #17 15

FLOOR
PRICES
@turkmmtz
The NFT community LOVES to talk floor prices. But no one really talks about the
revenue the projects themselves raise. Both from mint and from trading fees. Are
there any correlations between floor prices, trading volume, and mint revenue? I
analyzed 25+ Solana NFTs
First, if we look at the amount of SOL raised from minting, we this graph. This
graph is interesting as some of the high revenue projects here haven’t done great
and some of the low revenue ones have done very well. (This isn’t to say a high
revenue project won’t do well)
In fact, if we plot mint revenue against the % of SOL gained since mint, we see
that projects that have raised a lower amount tend to give better returns to their
holders! This is because low mint revenue = low supply (usually), and low supply =
greater prices if demand is high.
16
SHILL Issue #17

This is an interesting dilemma for NFTs. In most cases, the team must make
a choice to either raise a lot of money for themselves, or for their holders.
Obviously both *can* be done - but it’d have to be done primarily through
trading volume (e.g SMB) Let’s look at that next.
Let’s look at all time trading volume and factor in the royalties for each
project. Unsurprisingly, @SolanaMBS, DAA, and @AuroryProject lead the
pack. Note @mmccsolana is also a leader here. This is likely because they
charge a 15% royalty vs. the 5% that everyone else charges.
SHILL Issue #17 17

Well, is there a relationship between the trading revenue (or trading
volume) vs the % gain since mint for holders? Nope, not really (at
all). But what about total revenue (mint revenue + trading revenue)?
If we look at the total revenue for these projects, we get this
graph. What does it say? - @DegenApeAcademy are beasts - @
BoldBadgers are surprisingly second (mint price was 5 SOL) - SMB
is top 3 despite having half the supply and less than half the mint
price of the others
But as NFT holders, we care more about the returns that our NFTs
yield. And if we look at this metric - @BoryokuDragonz and @
SolanaMBS have such insane returns that the other projects are
barely visible on the plot. Let’s take them out as outliers to get a
better view.
With the outliers out of the picture, we see that a good amount of
the high revenue projects actually yield negative returns for the
holders! This just goes to show you that a team having more funds
does NOT mean a better NFT for holders. (I expect this to change
with gaming)
18
SHILL Issue #17

The trade-off between high mint revenue for the team vs. returns
to holders *needs* to be considered. Often, you are directly funding
a team that’ll give you negative returns. Be careful of high mint
projects - although they *can* do well (@GenesysGo, DAA, @
DeGodsNFT)
The big caveat here is that the prices are all in SOL and not the
equivalent USD value (I did this in a prev post). This is hard to
account for because the SOL raised could’ve been converted to
USD or just hodled. eg: DAA mint of 6 SOL was around ~250$ or
1.2 SOL.
Another caveat is that each of the marketplaces have slightly
different vol stats - so the exact numbers here are likely off by a bit,
though this won’t affect relative comparisons much.
To conclude - High revenue doesn’t imply good returns - Most
projects don’t deploy their capital in a way to increase their NFT’s
value - Lower supply usually = better holder returns (not always) - I
suspect utility NFTs will deploy their capital better ( @GenesysGo,
@_portals_)
