Pastrami at Maxie Eisen
Frankfurt‘s Bahnhofsviertel was
long one of the most notorious
corners of Germany. Today, the
drug and red-light scene still
characterizes some of the streets,
but the charm of the international
district is made up of Indian spice
dealers, vegetable stores - and a
gastromony scene, such as Maxie
Eisen, named after a Chicago
gangster with German roots and
connections to Al Capone. During
the day, the Jewish specialty
„pastrami“ is served here; in the
evening, the bar opens with cocktails
inspired by the 1920s and
1930s.
CITY
FACTS
The name of the city comes from
Emperor Charlemagne, who named
the settlement „Franconovud“ in
794. History was made in Frankfurt‘s
Paulskirche when the first freely
elected German parliament met
there in 1848.
Museums en Masse
One of the most important and multifaceted
museum locations in Germany
and the world is Frankfurt‘s Museumsufer,
with a total of 37 museums offering
visitors an extraordinary variety
of cultural experiences. In the Städel
Museum, masterpieces from the 14th
century to the present can be seen, as
well as many special exhibitions such
as the painter Ottilie W. Roederstein on
display from 20.7.-16.10.2022
