CARBON COUNTY SHRINE CLUB

As the new year begins, we have to mention

a highlight of 2021 for the club - our successful

annual pot-luck Christmas Party that took

place at our December meeting.

For the first time, Santa & Mrs. Claus made

a special appearance. Mrs. Claus read “The

Night Before Christmas.” Then, Santa handed

out gifts to all the children. A drawing was held

Duane Dellecker for gifts for the adults in attendance. There was

no charge for club members to participate in this

event. All that was asked was for everyone to

bring a covered dish. President Dennis Holtzman was very pleased with

the turnout and said one of his goals is to set up events that encourage

family participation and increasing membership attendance.

The club wishes to thank Illustrious Sir Kraig Leiby and Lady Janet

for a great 2021. And we are looking forward to supporting incoming

Rajah Shrine Potentate Illustrious Sir Joseph Hagan and the Divan for an

even greater 2022.

Rajah Shrine Circus Canceled

The Rajah Shrine Board of Directors and the Rajah Circus Committee have announced that the 59th Annual Rajah Circus

scheduled for March 9th to 13th, 2022, at the Hamburg Field House, has been canceled due to circumstances beyond our control.

In the best interests of personal safety and in obedience of the

Pennsylvania Department of Health recommended guidelines,

The Rajah Board of Directors and the Rajah Circus Committee

has decided that since under the current circumstances, it would

be difficult to produce a first class production, it is their belief the

best decision would be to cancel this year’s performances and all

further Rajah Shrine Circus shows.

The Illustrious Sir Joseph J. Hagan, Sr., Potentate of Rajah

Shrine, commented, “It is with deep regret that we have to make

this announcement, but as we are a family-oriented organization,

our first and foremost interest is in the health and safety of the

audience that would attend our annual circus. In as much as we

have over 100 volunteers working at the circus, plus over 50

performers and support staff of Hamid Circus, their health and

well-being also figured into our decision.”

In cancelling the circus, the Rajah Circus Committee felt that

we could not continue this long-standing tradition without fear of

the health concerns for all of those who have made this one of the

longest running publicly attended events in Rajah history.

Hagan continued, “We are very appreciative of our relationship

with the Hamburg Field House management and they, too, shared

our concerns to stage a safe and family-oriented event with regard

to meeting all health and safety protocols.”

The Rajah Shrine Board of Directors and the Rajah Circus

Committee very deeply regret having to make this decision and

hope that the people of this area will support us in other ways

when we stage other public events in the future.
