Philadelphia
Shriners Hospitals
for Children Receives
Large Donation
Ron Strohl, President of the Calvin A. King and Jean C.
King Charitable Foundation, recently presented a most generous
check for $125,000 to the Shriners Children’s Philadelphia. Ron
is a Rajah Shriner and remarked during the presentation that he
believes strongly in the mission of Shriners Children’s.
In thanking Ron, Terry Diamond, Director of Development,
said, “The Foundation’s gift was most appreciated and will make
a significant and positive impact on the improved function, health, and well-being of many infants, children, and teens that come
to our hospital. The generosity of donors is what enables Shriners Children’s to deliver life-changing medical care without placing
the burden on the families of our children.”
ORIENTAL BAND
The Calvin A. King and Jean C. King Charitable Foundation was
established in 2011 for the primary purpose of helping accounting students in

Greetings from the frozen tundra of the Lehigh Valley home of the Oriental Band.
The Band is busy right now planning the annual “Night at the Races” with the Motor Corps. Things are
coming together and many of us had to put on our thinking caps to try to remember what to do and how to
do it since we had to cancel last year.
I know we’ll figure it out and get it right and everything will be made ready for February 12. Doors at the
Complex will open at 3 p.m. and post time will be shortly thereafter. This event usually sells out, but there
may be some tickets left. You can call John Grumbein at 610-395-6578 for information and availability.
Another event we are preparing for is our annual Ladies Night on February 26. This event will be held
at the Doubletree in Reading. Our Ladies are busy getting last minute items together for our hospitality
room. This is another great event. You can call or e-mail John Grumbein, 610-395-6578, jkgrumbein@aol.
John Grumbein com for information and reservations.
This is another one we had to cancel
last year so come on out and have a great time.
We were sorry to hear that the Rajah Shrine Circus has been
cancelled. What to do with all of those novelties?
We would like to congratulate our officers for this year
for stepping up and volunteering their services. Ill. Sir Jared
Kichline as president, Wayne Grumbein as secretary, and Ted
Werkheiser Jr. as treasurer. All were installed by our Potentate
for 2022, Ill. Sir Joseph Hagan. Congratulations to all and more
especially to you, Illustrious Sir Joe! Also, congratulations to
Ill. Sir Kraig Leiby for a great 2021!
That’s all for this writing. We hope to see you at our event.
