AMAZING WOMAN
-Inspired by Robbie Motter’s motto:
It’s All About Showing Up
Time ßows like a river
It’s nothing to do with you
Take hold of your own life
There’s a lot of things to do.
If you never stop learning
You will be young in your heart
Look for your own motto
Love dressing up and be smart.
Always welcome changes
Use your ability
Be initiative
Take responsibility.
Never give up on your dreams
Widen your hidden wings
Don’t be afraid of your action
But be an inspiration
It’s all abut showing up showing up, showing up,
It’s all about asking ,
It’s about the way to make the world better be.
So restore back the place you belong to
And be blessed that you are: AMAZING WOMAN !
Global Society For Female Entrepreneurs - www.globalsocietyforfemaleentrepreneurs.org
know my goal for the end of 2022 is 1000 GSFE members and if everyone does their part we
can do this easily and serve more women and youth with our Young Ladies GSFE network.
I was on the launch of the Young Ladies Network and it was terrific and the youth that were
on the zoom call felt that even in this first meeting they got something out of it.
I have been very busy this month working on the two upcoming GSFE events, the Fashion
Show and Tea March 6th and the SIMA/GSFE Love Gala on April 2nd. The tickets are going
great for both events and Sunshine Lynch and Kara Maldonado who are chairing the Fashion
Show/Tea for me are have done a great job of finding the location, getting the caterer and
helping to promote that event.
My cochair of the Gala Ilja Haverkorn also has done an amazing job for me and Ada
Gartenmann who is the founder of SIMA (She Inspires Me) a non profit, she lives in London
she has been working on promoting the event to our International women, we have a nice
group coming to California for the event from Germany, Italy, and London, plus some of
our GSFE sisters stateside are showing up as well, they are coming to the Gala from Florida,
Indiana, New York, Northern CA, Pennsylvania and of course all over Southern, Ca so it will
be an amazing event, with the red carpet starting at 4pm, and if you have taken time to look
at the flyers you know that our entertainment is amazing.
Global Society For Female Entrepreneurs - www.globalsocietyforfemaleentrepreneurs.org
Year after year, March 8 is celebrated as the International Women’s Day all over the world.
The day celebrates the social, economic, cultural, and political achievements of women from
all walks of life, while highlighting the day-to-day problems they face in the professional
environment. Women from every corner of the globe come together on march 8, which is
also a call to action for accelerating gender parity.
The theme for the International Women’s Day 2022 was announced by UN Women in
December: “Gender equality today for a sustainable tomorrow.”
A key mission this year is to advance gender equality in the time of the climate crisis through
women’s leadership.
The history of International Women’s Day can be traced back to February 28, 1909. The
Socialist Party of America had designated March 8, 1909 in the honour of the garment
workers’ strike in New York.
However, the term ‘International Women’s Day’ was coined much later. The first official
worldwide celebrations of the day happened in 1911, when women from several European
countries participated in demonstrations.
Additionally, as to the world’s surprise millions of women took to the streets to demand
for the right to vote, and the right to hold public offices. The protest then manifested
into multilayered issues, women started to protest employment sex discrimination and
demanded for equal pay.
Another significant reason for celebrating International Women’s day on March 8 is that on
this very day, women textile workers in St Petersburg took over the streets for protest and
this act was the ignition force of Russian Revolution.
The United Nations finally recognised the day and started celebrating it from 1967 onwards.
Kyra Sherein
S.J. Pesebre
Kyra is currently seven years old. The impact she was able to make for her community and
beyond is promising for an up-and-coming leader. Serving God is Kyra’s calling. “To sing is to
pray twice”. Her voice is a gift with which she can make music to those that she loves the most,
especially for Jesus. Sung prayer reminds her of the choir in heaven, with whom we are called to
praise God eternally in heaven.
As the United States of America commemorated its declaration on July 4, 2021, Kyra graced
and sang the “Star Spangled Banner” at Washington D.C. and “God Bless America” at the historic
Basilica of the National Shrine of the Immaculate Conception. Furthermore, during the Young
Leaders Global Summit, she was awarded as one of the “Top 50 World Most Influential Young Leaders” who have been carefully selected
from a pool of over 200 young inspiring leaders around the world. Kyra was also awarded at the “20th Annual Gawad Amerika Awards”. It
was held at the Celebrity Centre International Hollywood on Nov. 20, 2021 as the “World’s Inspiring Youth Leader/ Child Prodigy”. She also
performed live and did the opening number with her singing “God Bless America” and “Hallelujah”. Kyra was the youngest and the very
first 7-year-old child Awardee for the said award-giving bodies.
At age three, Kyra would make her own piano tunes and self-compositions, just for fun, and at age six, she composed her own song, “I
Love You, Dad”. Not one word was changed from her song. The song resonated and captured the hearts of everyone when it launched on
Father’s Day. It is now available to download through Spotify, Apple Music, iTunes and Amazon Music.
Kyra became the Tiny Miss Ewa Beach. She competed for the Hawaii State Queen and emerged as the grand winner. She took the title of
TINY MISS HAWAII PRINCESS / STATE QUEEN. She won six (6) out of the nine (9) awards. She became a part of the American Cancer Society,
American Breast Cancer Society, and National Multiple Sclerosis of Hawaii. Since she was born, every year, Kyra and her family pledged
to support Bahay Aruga in the Philippines to assist the pediatric cancer patients. Kyra became so involved in the Hawaii community and
performed in various occasions such as church activities, school graduations, birthdays, anniversaries and all other special gatherings
all over Hawaii. She became a household name and felt the outpouring love, affection, concern, and strong support of the people from
Hawaii.
Kyra is a multi-talented young lady. While God, family, and her schooling are her top priorities, she maintains her high grades at school.
At the age of 4, she displays proficiency in singing, playing piano, modeling, Tahitian dances, hula, ballet, and interpretative dance with
a hoverboard. Her passion is acting for the camera and vlogging. She enjoys painting, clay art molding and sculpturing. She has a unique
sense of humor, a great sense of memorization skills vis-a-vis her modeling and acting techniques.
In the same year, when Kyra was still 4 years old, she represented Hawaii in TALENT INC, Orlando Florida. Out of more than 520 aspiring
models, actors, actresses and talents, and while being the youngest, Kyra emerged number one (1) and took the much-sought title of
OVERALL TOP CHILD MODEL for 2019-2020. She was able to gain all the support of the other contestants, their families and became the
judges’ top child model and talent. Indeed, the entire house was in complete and total jubilation!
Three months after her winning, she traveled to Hollywood. She represented Hawaii for the NATIONAL AMERICAN MISS Competition. With
108 State Princesses and Representatives all over the nation, it was a humbling experience to watch Kyra as one of the most Awarded
State Princesses who gathered several awards, recognition and trophies.
Kyra is a natural talent and a young ambassador of love and peace anywhere she goes. Her music video “I Love You, Dad”, recently
launched this January 2022. She also won the “Front of the Line” Audition Pass at the America’s Got Talent and is currently working on
a suspense film in Hollywood. She is currently a part of “Peter Pan” The British Musical and is excited to sing and play her role as the
mermaid and fairy. Last January 29, 2022, Kyra was the sole child performer together with the Doctors-on-Stage at FilCom Center, Hawaii.
It was a fundraising activity with a goal to expand their services to those who lost their jobs due to the pandemic. The concert FUNdemic
featured a musical of 27 popular and Broadway songs honoring the survivors and frontliners of the pandemic.
As Kyra looks forward to more colorful and memorable experiences, she would like to share her joy and thoughts to all of you, with so
much gratitude, love and respect.
(Please feel free to follow Kyra, “It’s Kyra’s Life” @shielapesebre on You Tube, Instagram and Facebook).
The
Retreat
INSPIRE • CONNECT • GROW
A lot of work and planning goes into an event of this size so it is imperative to get an immediate
response. For those who might find it a bit of a financial hardship, here are a few suggestions….
do a go fund me campaign/ask family and friends to contribute for Mother’s Day or birthday
celebrations/get a sponsors help like the company you represent. There is so much included in
the Retreat of activities/lodging and food that I have negotiated the best I can as a professional
event producer. As part of the experience I wanted you to have a four star plus experience with a
fairly new venue, which I have selected…Embassy Suites by Hilton. The location in La Quinta was
done in 2019. It is an exquisite property with pool/spa/workout room located a few steps away
from old town La Quinta.
The cost for this retreat all inclusive of above will be: $465
you. LOri gave us a copy of her book as you see in the photo we are holding
the book. The biggest take on her book was pick your cover correctly. Next
month at the meeting I announced if you wear green you get an extra ticket
into the drawing I will have some beautiful necklaces for raffle. Thanks again
Robbie Motter for allowing me to be part of this wonderful group.
Riverside
GSFE
Joan Wakeland
Lori Raupe
Greetings from the Riverside GSFE Chapter.
On Wednesday, February 16, 2022 the
Riverside chapter of GSFE held its first hybrid
meeting at the home of one of our members.
It has been challenging to find a restaurant
that can accommodate us without being
noisy. The other challenge was the time
that is allotted to be in their space. We have
experienced service that is unacceptable and
Gigi Banks offered her home for us to meet.
We are very grateful for such a generous
offer. The patio area is beautiful. Gigi Banks
and Marcy Decato hosted the meeting. This
was an awesome experience for those in
attendance as we had no idea of how this
could be done. The Speaker Wanda Allen
called the following morning to compliment
Marcy and Gigi for using the technology
effectively.
Joan Wakeland introduced Wanda Allen who is no stranger to GSFE founder Robbie Motter
and Southern California. She moved to the East coast, but because of Zoom we could connect
with her. Wanda presented “ Follow up strategies and how to get more clients “ She delivered
a very informative and extremely beneficial talk.
We asked for feedback since this was our first hybrid. It went well, however it was suggested
to use a microphone for the zoom attendees to properly hear the In Person, during the
networking part of the meeting. We will do that on March 16, which is the next scheduled
meeting.
42
Global Society For Female Entrepreneurs - www.globalsocietyforfemaleentrepreneurs.org
Epicurean delights for the evening were prepared for us by Chef Princess who is a member
of the chapter. Her vegetarian meal and her herb roasted chicken were delicious! Everyone
commented on the taste, and said we could have her back.
It is our intention to feature a member at each meeting. Time allotted will be 3 mins, that
individual can provide a raffle item, not mandatory entirely up to the individual. We will draw a
name to know who will be next. You can set up your display that evening!
Marcy and Gigi presented their business. Please check out their online brochure, it has an
amazing array of products.
The next meeting will be on March 16, 2022.
NO VACCINATION PROOF REQUIRED!
The Meeting will be hybrid!
Meet Angelique Sunshine
Angelique Sunshine will be the Speaker. I have had the
pleasure of meeting Angelique in 2020 at an event. She
is a dynamic person and an impactful Speaker! If you
are attending In Person you can show up at 5:30 pm for
networking! Please text me at (909) 721-7648 or email me at
joanewakeland@gmail.com if you plan In Person or Zoom.
Zoom starts at 6 pm Pacific. As a courtesy to the Chef I
would appreciate a response to order the meal by March 12,
thereby allowing her time to order the food and ingredients
needed for meal prep. Please state if you are Vegan or
Gluten intolerant !
That’s the beauty of having it at Gigi’s place… we have more
time to know each other!
This diagnosis did not resonate with her and she told the doctors to keep looking.
They returned with a rare form of cancer, Paraneoplastic pemphigus, which has a
9 Simple ways to train your brain to eat less
By Kimi Verma
Training your brain sounds complicated, but there are some tricks and tips that are really
simple to follow.
According to nutritionists and psychologists, 95% of the actions we carry out daily are
based on our unconscious processes and habits that we’ve developed over time. And this is
applicable to eating as well.
48
Global Society For Female Entrepreneurs - www.globalsocietyforfemaleentrepreneurs.org
Fortunately, you can replace your unhealthy tendencies and develop a weight loss mindset. As
a general rule of thumb, it takes 21 to 90 days to develop a new habit. Below mentioned are
some easiest things you can do and train your brain to eat less food.
1. Plan your meals at the start of the day
Planning healthy and nutritious meals before doing your weekly grocery helps you fight against
the powers of snack food shelves. If you’re planning a dinner out with your friends and family,
try to read the online menu and nutritional details in advance.
If you were thinking of ordering a big-sized family pizza, you might change your mind and order
a healthy starter and a small dessert after looking at the menu. Bur if you indulge once in a
while, plan strictly healthy meals for the following day.
2. Organize your pantry
Are you planning to throw away all the snacks in a bin? You don’t need to. Training your brain
is less about decluttering your kitchen and more about organizing it and developing a mindful
and balanced attitude towards eating. A very practical and effective strategy is to put your
chocolates and cookies out of your sight because ease of access can easily lead to mindless
snacking.
3. Consume 20% less
Like most people, you might be eating 20% more food without noticing. The simplest way is to
cut back the portion of food you cook. So, if you make cook yourself 100g of spaghetti, cut out
the 20g and make it 80g. Replace this 20g of spaghetti with 20% of more veggies to fill your
stomach and create a feeling of satisfaction.
4. Drink water before eating
It is advisable to drink water before you start eating a meal. Having the magical drink before
your meals can stretch your stomach and produce feelings of fullness before you begin.
5. Turn it down
Would you believe it if I tell you that listening to the sound of your own chewing can help you
eat less?
In fact, not listening to the sound of chewing the bite makes people do overeating, according
to studies. So, the next time you turn on the TV while eating your dinner, make sure to keep the
volume levels low. Better turn it off entirely and focus on your food.
6. Eat with the left or wrong hand
Many experts suggest that people who eat with their less dominant hand eat 30% less food
on average. This happens because the chances that you will eat mindlessly will be entirely
eliminated. Trying to eat with the wrong hand can result in mindful eating. Unless you happen
to be proficient at it, using chopsticks will deliver the same benefits.
Global Society For Female Entrepreneurs - www.globalsocietyforfemaleentrepreneurs.org
49
7. Eat slowly
I’ve said it before, and I am saying it again, ‘the human brain 20 minutes to realize that the
stomach is full’. Eating your food too quickly means removing the opportunity for our brain
to receive the message. If we eat slowly and take our time, we’ll observe our body saying,
‘Stop it.’ You can use a timer app and set it for 25 minutes.
8. Choose your snacks wisely
Feeling hunger between meals is a common issue faced by people trying to lose weight
by eating less. Make sure you understand your cravings and shut them up with healthy
foods. I personally suggest water and a fruity flavor of chewing gum as they work best for
suppressing appetite.
9. Make a photo diary
Who doesn’t love taking snaps? Taking pictures of each drink, meal, or snack is a great way
to develop an awareness of how much you are actually eating. Review it daily and notice if
you’re eating something which is not healthy. Set a period of time you will track your meals,
say ten days, then stop doing it for a while to prevent yourself from getting obsessed.
Poem by Kaila Oliver
SUPER WOMAN
Woman
You are a complex masterpiece
Like gears within a well-oiled machine
You are a tree
Lending branches to everyone in sight
And when twigs break, you repair them with all of your might
I mean you even go as far as picking up leaves fallen from other people’s tree
Woman
You are the wind
Blowing positivity, knowledge, creativity, and wisdom
Into everyone you encounter
To anyone who haven’t met you yet, show them how you make the world rounder cause
Little do they know, this is a woman’s world
We hold the key
Like I said before, we are the wind beneath the wings
You’ve made it this far do not quit
After all, you are the business, you own the business
You are it sis
But being a woman can be difficult, I know
But we can’t let negativity ruin our spotlight in the show
You empower, you uplift,
You are a role-model wrapped with a bow
Presenting yourself as a beautiful gift
So even though
You are a complex masterpiece
Like gears within a well-oiled machine
You are still and will forever be someone’s Super Woman
That’s enough for me
Laurie Davis is a retired classroom teacher and school administrator having served 15 years in the public school system. In 1984 she wanted to pursue her
entrepreneurial goals and dreams. One of those dreams was to do school her way. www.lauriehdavis.com This year 2020 marks her 50th year teaching,
training, facilitating and mentoring others.
In 1992 along with the support of her husband Ron they opened their doors for business. Starting with 10 workshops that Laurie created, they began a
journey that would be full of set backs, surprises, failures, successes and growth. However as Laurie says, “We would not have had it any other way for all
that we have learned.” To date she now has literally authored and created hundreds of workshops to offer, and certifies others to deliver her programs.
For the past 25 years on and off reserve she has provided extensive services also to our Aboriginal Communities across Canada and in the US. Because of
the experiential nature of delivery, the Indigenous communities respond easily to the information. She has also an impressive list of corporations, institutions
and organizations for whom she has provided products, programs and services.
In 1998 Laurie worked in Elsipogtog New Brunswick, formerly Big Cove. While there she piloted her youth programs that support the healing of low selfworth,
confidence building and communications skills. The summer of 2019 Laurie returned for a visit and actually witnessed first hand the changes in the
community based on one generation later. Businesses, paved streets, curbs and sidewalks, improved community beautification was an amazing site. Part of
the credit was given to Laurie’s work 20 years prior. The youth realized they were worth more and carried that into their adult life.
In 2002 Laurie embraced VOIP when it first hit the tech world and this created a global market. Her Core Empowerment Program has been translated into
French, Chinese, German and Spanish.
Throughout the past 25 years Laurie has hosted 13 radio talk shows, and has been featured on radio and television with regards to her work in the world, has
been published in countless articles and featured in a documentary film on Gratitude. Her book project is scheduled to hit the stands in 2020. The product
line has grown to include workshops, on line and in person retreats and information that can be implemented right away for adults, teens and even young
children. Some of her materials has been translated into Chinese, French, Spanish and German.
Laurie has received awards for business savvy and leadership, sales goals that have been achieved and not to mention her status as an International
Professional Speaker. She is frequently invited as a conference speaker. 780 566 2340
Greetings Everyone
February 25, 2022 so stay tuned for details on that.
Our guest speaker in January was Angelika Christie who did
This month we are excited to introduce you to our member, Karen
Pollick, who recently moved to AZ from Southern California.
Karen grew up in New Jersey. Her grandparents and parents owned a
family business together and she and her brother and sister helped and
learned the value of money and the benefits of being entrepreneurs at a
very early age.
She lived in New Jersey until she graduated college with a BA degree in
Music. She got married after graduation and moved to Belgium with her
French-speaking husband, an officer in the US Army at SHAPE (Supreme
Headquarters Allied Powers Europe).
Karen also worked at SHAPE, serving as the Music Director/Pianist and
Piano Teacher. Living in Belgium and working at SHAPE gave her a
wonderful opportunity to meet people from all over Europe and travel
to many different countries.
Karen Pollick
Returning to New Jersey three years later, Karen taught music at the Junior High level, and, on
her way to work, was in an auto accident that nearly took her life. It was through this experience
that she learned the value of good health. After recovering from the accident, Karen taught
piano privately where she had award-winning students and was fortunate to have two healthy
children.
In 1996, while living in California, another incident changed Karen’s life. She woke up one
morning and couldn’t move her right shoulder. After a week of getting no relief, she saw
two chiropractors. Neither chiropractor could get that shoulder to budge with conventional
modalities. Four weeks later, Dr. Bradley Nelson recommended she try something unique and
totally unconventional. Having success with a magnetic energy product in two hours, Karen
wanted to learn more about magnets and help other people with their health challenges. Dr.
Brad trained her and had her work in his office teaching his patients about Nikken’s amazing
products, and for the past 15 years, she has been on Dr. Brad’s website as a contact person in
the US and Canada regarding the Nikken products. She has helped many people, and pets,
sometimes in minutes with Nikken products. She has given relief to people who have been in
pain for years. She finds this exceptionally rewarding and plans to do this for the rest of her life.
Karen now lives in Sun City, Arizona, a huge very active 55+ community where she participates
in health fairs, enjoys fitness activities, dancing, performing in piano recitals, playing cards,
attending the theater and concerts, etc. She meets people daily who can benefit from her
knowledge and services. People of all ages, pets and even your plants can benefit from Nikken
products. Karen would love to connect with all of you. Below is her contact information.
Topic
“The 5 Best Defensive Skills for Women”
Debbie Love is a 4th Degree Black Belt and Certified Instructor in Karate who began training
over 20 years. At under 5’ and 100 lbs., she certainly doesn’t look the part, but don’t let her small
size fool you--Debbie can easily stop a predator in his tracks. Like many others, Debbie knows
what it’s like to be on the receiving end of a man determined to get what he wants, as do most
women. We don’t talk about it, it just is and always has been.
Until … Enter Heads Up Self-Defense for Women, a safe, testosterone-free space for girls to learn
how to handle the many firsts ahead of them. Debbie has a unique ability to teach self-defense
from the point of view of a girl who was powerless.
Debbie is a sought-after speaker and bestselling author of The Story of Two Loves. She is the
recipient of a Leadership Award, Volunteer Excellence Award, and Humanitarian Award in 2020.
In 2021, she received the International Women’s Day Leadership Award and a Silver Award
for World Kindness Day. At the recent Lady in Blue Sapphire Awards, she was a finalist as an
Influencer and Director and won the Showing Up Award. Most recently Debbie was awarded the
She Inspires Me Award (SIMA Global Awards 2022).
Customer Retention
Strategies That Work
What’s better than acquiring one new customer?
It sounds like a trick question, but the answer isn’t “acquiring two
customers.” It’s actually retaining an existing customer.
While there’s a certain allure that comes with capturing new customers,
keeping customers coming back will continually result in a greater ROI — and
it costs 5-25X less.
In the next few issues I will give you examples of customer retention
strategies that work.
Maintain a customer communication calendar:
If customers haven’t interacted with your brand for a while, you should reach
out and re-establish your relationship. Consider adopting a communication
calendar to manage customer engagements and create opportunities to
upsell and cross-sell.
A communication calendar is a chart that keeps track of customer
communication. It tells you the last time that a customer has reached out and
alerts you when existing customers haven’t interacted with your brand. This
makes it easy to launch promotional offers and proactive customer service
features that remove roadblocks before customers know they’re there. For
example, if a customer’s subscription is set to expire, you can send out an
email letting them know they need to renew their account.
They say the toughest battles are given to the strongest warriors and I believe that to be very
true. Many of us have experienced so many obstacles that have led us to where we are today.
Love Your Haters is not an Anthology for us to take reflection on all the painful experiences and
revisit them for too long. However, it is a book that will help us share with others the highlights
of our journey thus far that continue to propel us forward. The three main focus points are:
* Learning how to IGNORE THE NAYSAYERS
How have you overcome doubt and criticism from others?
* The art of SELF-LOVE
What self-love means to you and/ or What practices do you implement continuously?
* FORGIVENESS
How has forgiveness helped you feel peace of mind and/ or improved relations?
Listed are just a few questions that can help direct you while you are writing your chapter.
These topics have been crucial to my transformation and positive mindset. I’m sure that they
have changed your life as well.
You can choose to elaborate on either or all of these topics. You may also write your story of
choice and implement the importance of listed topics. I realize the process of coming to such
milestones is not easy, Many new readers will identify with where they are on their personal
transformation journey. My hope with this Anthology is that it will inspire others and inspire
growth. Thank you for being on this journey with me.
This Anthology is scheduled to be published June
2nd 2022. The submission deadline for chapters is
April 1st, 2022. The first 50 authors to respond will
be included in the book. Each chapter is to be 2000
word count. The cost of the chapter is $300.00.
Payment can be made through Venmo, Zelle or sent
