FINANCIAL SERVICES – Integration of <strong>Post</strong>bank,<br />
<strong>Deutsche</strong> <strong>Post</strong> and DSL Bank generates largest<br />
customer base in Germany<br />
<strong>Deutsche</strong> <strong>Post</strong> World Net acquired <strong>Post</strong>bank in 1999<br />
and DSL Bank on January 1, 2000. Our new FINANCIAL<br />
SERVICES corporate division with its balance sheet<br />
total of some EUR 61 billion (excluding DSL Bank) and<br />
EUR 2.9 billion in income will pursue a clearly-defined<br />
strategy that is based on the following two goals:<br />
1. Become one of the leading retail banks in Germany.<br />
<strong>Post</strong>bank has enormous strengths to build on here, such<br />
as 14,000 retail outlets, 10 million customers, a leading<br />
position in Germany’s online banking field with<br />
650,000 customers, and No. 1 standing in telephone<br />
banking with 1.5 million customers. By teaming up with<br />
<strong>Deutsche</strong> <strong>Post</strong> World Net’s retail outlet network, it has<br />
gained access to more than two million customers every<br />
day.<br />

2. Expand its payment services and commission business,<br />
develop its brokerage and financing services<br />
in the logistics and e-Business segments. <strong>Post</strong>bank has<br />
access to <strong>Deutsche</strong> <strong>Post</strong>’s customer base in MAIL,<br />
EXPRESS and LOGISTICS business to accomplish<br />
this. Current examples of this include the payment<br />
services for <strong>Deutsche</strong> <strong>Post</strong>’s e-Business (eVITA) activities<br />
and the financing of logistics projects conducted by<br />
<strong>Deutsche</strong> <strong>Post</strong> World Net and Danzas customers.<br />
We want to interlink our logistics networks for goods<br />
flows and the information and money flows connected<br />
with them and meet the competition with corresponding<br />
services for our customers.<br />
