The year 2020 comes with so many
prospects and the excitement brooding
around the New Year is somewhat
contagious. Everyone seems hopeful for
the best, and we are looking forward to
celebrating many wins this year.
We couldn’t just allow 2019 rolloff
without taking time to honour

introduced our inaugural ‘Glamsquad
Style and Heroes Awards’.
The awards recognized individuals
who put in a little extra work in 2019
spanning fashion, entertainment and
lifestyle.
This year’s edition of the Glamsquad
Style and Heroes Awards promises to

Ashley Graham has launched a plussize
bridal line after revealing she
couldn’t find a dream dress for her
wedding in 2010.
The top model has teamed up with creatives
at wedding fashion brand Pronovias for the
new venture and admits it has been a long
time coming.
The pregnant 32-year-old reveals she had to
choose an ill-fitting gown when she exchanged
vows with her husband, Justin Ervin, because
she couldn’t find a dress that fit her.

and I got married and I wouldn’t
change anything about that day...
EXCEPT... a lot of us know the
feeling of compromising style for
size, something you shouldn’t
have to do on your wedding

significant details I didn’t
want because there was
nothing in that shape that
fit me...
“And it wasn’t even the
right size! We ended up

seems to struggle with one challenge or the
other in their various fields - only a few did all
they could to hang on – one minute longer.
The fashion, entertainment and lifestyle
industry was not any different. Despite its up-anddowns

These few are heroes worthy of recognition

businesswoman per excellence.

Okoya, a billionaire industrialist. They have four children
together, Olamide, Subomi, Oyinlola and Wahab.

Politician of the year
Shina Abiola Peller is a Nigerian entrepreneur,
politician, Industrialist. He is the chairman and
chief executive officer of Aquila Group of
Companies and Club Quilox. He is the Hon.
Member of the Nigeria ninth national assembly.
He announced his resignation from the board
of Quilox night club due to his official duties as a
member of the House of Representatives.

Beyoncé, Guyanese singer Saint Jhn and Nigerian
singer Wizkid, featuring Blue Ivy Carter from the 2019
album The Lion King: The Gift. The song was sent to Top
40/Rhythmic radio on July 23, 2019, as the second single
from the soundtrack. Billboard magazine ranked “Brown
Skin Girl” as the 68th best song of 2019, saying the song
“bolsters Beyoncé’s crusade for cultural pride and female
empowerment”. The song was the most streamed female
song of 2019 on Apple Music in Sub-Saharan Africa.

Music Album of the
year
African Giant is the fourth studio album by
Nigerian singer Burna Boy. It was released on
July 26, 2019, by Spaceship Entertainment,
Bad Habit, Atlantic Records and Warner Music.
The album is a mixture of Afro-fusion, Afrobeat,
dancehall, pop and hip hop. It has won over
a dozen awards and crashed multiple records
since its release.

Deola Sagoe is a fashion designer,
extraordinaire. She is a source of

week.

Music artiste of the year
Teniola Apata, better known as Teni, is a Nigerian
singer, songwriter and entertainer. Teni has come

Genevive Nnaji
Movie Director of the year
Genevive Nnaji directed her first movie, Lionheart.
Lionheart is a Nigerian drama film produced by
Chinny Onwugbenu and directed by Genevieve
Nnaji. It stars Pete Edochie, Genevieve Nnaji, and
Nkem Owoh. It was acquired by Netflix, making it the
first Netflix original film produced in Nigeria.
