FASHION
Ashley Graham
Launches Plus-Size
Wedding Gown
Collection
Words by - Amenna Daayo (Paris, France)
Ashley Graham has launched a plussize
bridal line after revealing she
couldn’t find a dream dress for her
wedding in 2010.
The top model has teamed up with creatives
at wedding fashion brand Pronovias for the
new venture and admits it has been a long
time coming.
The pregnant 32-year-old reveals she had to
choose an ill-fitting gown when she exchanged
vows with her husband, Justin Ervin, because
she couldn’t find a dress that fit her.
FASHION
“It has been nine years since Justin
and I got married and I wouldn’t
change anything about that day...
EXCEPT... a lot of us know the
feeling of compromising style for
size, something you shouldn’t
have to do on your wedding
day!” she wrote on Instagram.
“I found a silhouette that I
loved, but I had to accept
significant details I didn’t
want because there was
nothing in that shape that
fit me...
“And it wasn’t even the
right size! We ended up
adding a panel to a
size ten dress off the
rack so it would fit my
(size) 14 frame to make it
work. Finding a dream dress
is something I would have
loved to experience...!
“I’m so excited to be
partnering with @pronovias
to create a bridal line for
everyone. The collection runs
from size 0-34, and there is
something for any bride!”
Ashley has also shared
images of herself in some of
the designs, adding:
“There are so many different
guys to see the collection when it’s
out this March!
“You shouldn’t have to compromise
who you are because of what’s on
the rack.”
The collection will feature 16 dresses
to fit all shapes and sizes.
dresses for anyone from the
classic bride to the ultraglam
bride and options with
SLEEVES, which I love.
The 32-year-old is also
making sure as a plus-size,
you don’t have to worry about
putting on shapewear before
you throw on your wedding
garment. This is because
her wedding dresses are
designed with the cut, style,
and comfort in mind.
“By far my favourite part is that
every dress has shapewear
Top 10 Cele
We Hated I
Every famous person has a group of experts who
create their look (or at least they should!).
But sometimes celebrities appear in outfits that
raise over a million questions, apparent among which
is: “Who the f**k made them wear such an awkward
outfit?” or “Did they get into an argument with their
stylist?”
Today, we’ll show you top celebrities (Six Nigerians
and Four International) who disappointed us with their
outfits in 2019.
The celebrities who made it to our Fashion Police list
come before three judges.
Sebastiane Ebatamehi (Managing Editor at
GlamSquadMagazine.com), Ameena D. (Glamsquad
Magazine Fashion & Style Writer from Paris, France)
and Sasha Bokamosa (Glamsquad Magazine Fashion
& Style Writer, South Africa).
The judges will each be grading the celebrities on a
scale of 1 to 5; 1 is for the highest offences and 5 for
the least crimes.
No offence, but 2020 is not the year for apologetic
outfits. Welcome to the world of crazy design!
The emerald cut is truly a
show-stopper—and it’s been
on the rise with celebrities like
Kim Kardashian West and Amal
Clooney rocking it on their ring
fingers.
This cut is known for its
distinctive rows of facets and
a long, rectangular shape.
It’s best suited for high-quality
diamonds, and sensibly so;
it’s adapted from techniques
used to cut emeralds, the most
fragile and delicate of all the
precious stones.
With this cut, inclusions are
more visible and the color of
the stone is more prominent.
If you are a lover of clean lines
and geometric shapes, this cut
is sure to make you swoon—
and its linear shape flatters
fingers, making them appear
Valentine’s
Day Gifts For
HIM
Words by - Amenna Daayo
Yeah, I get it! We want to be on the
receiving end this Valentine. We
feel it is the norm for women to
be the ones who receive gifts and
love.
Wrong! Quit the selfish fetish and make
your man feel like a King this Valentine;
and guess what, you will have more fun
this Valentine than ever before!
Thank me later. Well, you are welcome
in advance.
Even if gift-giving is your love language,
finding the perfect Valentine’s Day gift
for the guy in your life isn’t easy.
The challenge: You want something as
sweet and heartfelt as your love, but still
something he’ll find practical enough for
day-to-day life.
Men love gifts, even though they do not
say it!
We have selected a few gifts you should
choose from this Valentine. They do not
have to be expensive. No matter which
gift you pick or how much it cost, he’ll
love it because it came straight from
your heart.
Check out our 5 picks below:
Perfume:
Perfumes are
a great go-to
gift for guys. It’s also a versatile gift
option, with a message that can
be either neutral or romantic. We
advise that you go for something
with refreshing citrus and fresh
lavender, with hints of spicy-sweet
woods.
BEAUTY
Wrist
Watch:
Although he loves
wearing watches, he
doesn’t know much
about them. Get him a
watch you will like to see
on him, or you could get
him the type of watch
you know he loves. It
doesn’t have to be overly
expensive, but do pick
a watch with a touch of
class and style.
Leather Wallet:
Upgrade his over-stuffed, overused
wallet with a sleek leather
one. Please make sure you
lookout for a wallet that is big
enough to store his essentials
without weighing his pockets
down.
Underwear & Socks:
This is an excellent choice because it is something
he uses almost every day. So, get him good
pairs of socks, briefs and underwear that are
comfortable and classy. Consider buying white
underwear and briefs, and you won’t regret it…
except when it is laundry time, of cause!
Compact
Leather Key
Holder:
Get your man a
lovely compact
leather key holder. We
advise that you go for a
monogrammed leather
keychain. Once he adds up to six keys on
this monogrammed leather keychain, he
won’t deal with any annoying jingling in his
pockets. Instead, this unique design lets his
keys fold in and out just like a pocket knife.
This is another couple that
took a lot of Nigerians by
surprise with news of their
wedding.
The singers never made
their relationship public
despite being long term
friends.
They just celebrated their
first wedding anniversary
together, so this will surely
be a special Valentine for
the couple.
...And Those Who Won’t!
Chizzy Alichi
The wedding of this Nollywood
actress left many inspired.
She won over hearts when she
built a beautiful house for her
parents, stating that the building
project was the reason she
wasn’t rocking designer bags
and shoes like her colleagues in
the industry.
Well, Chizzy’s hard work not only
got her more fans, but it also
won the heart of a man who
became her husband.
The phrase ‘Love is a beautiful thing’,
never ends up on the list of clichés
because everyone agrees with it.
Although the statement is relative and
thus, presents different meanings to
different people; one thing we all agree
with is the fact that love exists.
February 14 is marked internationally as
Valentine’s Day. It is a day dedicated to
celebrating love, and many countries
declare it a national holiday.
This day makes the month of February
one of the most significant months on
the calendar. Friends, family and lovers
use the opportunity to appreciate the
unique persons in their lives and this
year’s Valentine’s Day will not be any
different.
We bring you six Nigerian celebrity
couples who will be celebrating
Valentine’s Day together and four
celebrity couples who sadly, will not be
spending time together this Valentine as
they did last year.
Won’t Be Spending
Valentine Together
Osas Ighodaro &
Gbenro Ajibade
Nollywood sweetheart, Osas
Ighodaro, had her first share of public
embarrassment on February 17 (3 days
after Valentine), after her now ex-actor
husband, Gbenro Ajibade, called her
out on Instagram for “neglecting their
daughter”.
About ten months later, the actor
confirmed that he and his actress wife of
three years are finally divorced.
Not all celebrity marriages are fairytales meant to last forever.
They often seem the perfect union and a dream come true, but
sadly, they dream more than their hearts when their relationships
hit a dead end.
These Nigeria celebrity breakups of 2019 took us by surprise,
and we can’t believe they won’t be celebrating this Valentine
together.
Blossom
Chukwujekwu &
Maureen Esisi
Blossom Chukwujekwu’s marriage of three years to Maureen Esisi,
was considered an ‘ideal’ union.
When the news went around the town on June 9, that they had
parted ways, fans found it hard to believe. Not a few felt it was a
poorly staged stunt. But, alas, it turned out to be true.
Not only did they unfollow each other on social media, but they also
deleted photos of themselves on Instagram.
Nollywood actress, Yvonne Jegede,
shocked fans when she finally confirmed
that her one-year-old marriage to
Olakunle’ Abounce’ Fawole has crashed.
The actress came clean in an interview
with Pulse in March, saying she quit the
marriage three months after she got
pregnant with her son.
Ik Ogbonna & Sonia Morales
Now, this is one exciting celebrity breakup because fans found out
about their wedding and divorce on Instagram.
Ik, who is one of Nollywood’s hottest actors, met Sonia, a Columbian
beauty, on Instagram and after a whirlwind romance, they tied the
knot. The couple bore a son together, but that was not enough to
keep their marriage.
Sonia broke the news of their divorce on Instagram on August 8.
