Editor’s Comment GEORGE LEWIS EDITOR GEORGELEWIS@MEDIA-NOW.CO.UK It’s very much an up and down time for the sector at the moment. In positive news, momentum continues to build for the return of the FIT Show in May, a live event that brings together the best of the sector, and provides a platform to showcase the significant investments companies throughout the supply chain continue to make in new innovations and solutions to meet the demands of customers and an ever-changing market. We have a round-up of some of what’s on show at the NEC in May, as well as the brilliant speaker programme which will keep visitors in the know from page 16. On the negative side, the fluctuations in demand are reflected again in the latest Business Pilot Barometer (page 12), which suggests that in the last month order values for installers crashed by more than 50%. But this is offset against the stat that average sales were up almost 15% in March, and leads were also up 14%, reversing the fall recorded in February on January. In this issue we also hear from Steve Winslet, Victorian Sliders Group MD, about the aforementioned peaks and troughs of the current industry climate (page 24); our Installer Insights column features Neal Harper of Midlandsbased Wolverhampton Glass (page 34); and social media expert David Glenwright provides advice to ensure you maximise the impact of your company’s posts (page 56).
