18 x May 19 — June 1, 2022 x www.SouthwestOrlandoBulletin.com Southwest SEEN Kids Beating Cancer held its third Hats & Roses luncheon and fashion show, themed “Springtime in Paris,” at Four Seasons Resort Orlando at Walt Disney World. Attendees enjoyed a gourmet, French-inspired, three-course luncheon with French cocktails, Champagne and wine; a couture fashion show, and shopping from a selection of vendors. Entertainment also included opera singers from the Dr. Phillips Center for the Performing Arts who sang three numbers from Carmen. Proceeds from the event supported KBC, a nonprofit that provides access to lifesaving treatments for children suffering from a cancer diagnosis and advances research while supporting children and their families during their journey. This year’s event raised $260,000, a generous improvement above last year’s almost $200,000. The luncheon and fashion show were planned by the Rose Society, a newly formed volunteer committee for KBC that was founded by Francelis Gonzalez, M.D., of Turtle Creek. Dr. Gonzalez served as chair of the event, and Donna Boyer of Palm Lake was co-chair. Among others, Southwest-area guests included Sunshine Cusack of Windermere, CEO Margaret Guedes, Brigitte Jensen, and Leslie and Lindsay Skillman of Torey Pines.
