n HFUW addresses mental
health at annual luncheon
Officials of Heart of Florida United
Way continued their focus on eliminating
the stigma of mental health through
its first in-person event in two years
— the 15th annual Women United
Luncheon — which raised more than
$220,000. As keynote of the event,
ABC chief meteorologist Ginger Zee
shared her own mental health journey,
as she checked herself in for treatment
only 10 days before starting at Good
Morning America and continues to get
help today through a “personal trainer
for her brain.”
One of HFUW’s largest programs
is its 211 Information and Referral
Crisis Hotline that connects families
with the resources they need. It also
serves as the Suicide Prevention
Lifeline for Orange, Osceola and
Seminole counties. During 2020,
Local students receive hospitality-student scholarships from the Central Florida Hotel and Lodging Association.
