PROFILE Simple solution Semper Blinds has created its own app for its customers to use As everyone knows, if you go anywhere there is a good chance you have your phone with you, especially if you run your own business. So, it only made sense to take advantage of this by creating our own app for Semper Blinds, the main aim was to provide a clean, quick, and easy to use app that our traders could get pricing in seconds. Everyone’s time a premium so we wanted to create a bespoke app that would be the foundation for Semper to build on regarding the digital age and looking over the past few years there were two main areas of communication from traders that could be streamlined, which were project quotations and job updates. Our target was to have an app where a trader could access it at anytime and get live updates on their order, this was especially important due to our suppliers being affected by the current climate. As well as providing project updates and deadline dates, we also made sure that the project price was shown so that the trader had all the information they needed about the project on one clear screen. Once the job tracker was completed, we then moved on to the bigger task at hand which was to create a quick and simple quotation app. The idea behind the quotation tool was to provide a quote for a blind in as fewer clicks as possible as well as being clear enough that anyone could use it, and we managed to get this down to four clicks for a basic blind as well as having people test it ranging from eight-year-old up to 71-year-old to make sure it’s easy to use. Our popular Survey & Fit service as well as our motorised blinds are all in there as well, giving clear costings for the motorised components selected so you can be confident in what you are quoting for. To start off with the app will be Android based but will be crossing over to Apple soon enough and this app will be free to all our traders with no monthly fees as we didn’t want to add to the ever-increasing outgoings they face. With the job tracker and quotation tool app groundwork completed we then went about revamping our website which was basic at best and due to the new upgrades in the background it meant we could integrate the quotation tool within the website for our traders. The intention for the online version was to help when making more complex quotations and larger project quotations as the vision for the app is purely to provide quick quotes for now. Moving forward we are going to be creating a factory app, which will have multiple advantages as we aim to have an almost paper free environment as well as giving our team the ability to update projects quicker and in time this is going to be linked to the job tracker, so the trader will be able to see whereabouts the project is in our system, for example if the fabrics cut or if it’s in quality control or awaiting courier collection. A successful future needs to be built on a strong foundation, and we feel with the Semper Quotation app, new website and factory app integrated with the job tracker it will be a positive and more important streamlined one for all involved. 14 Blinds & Shutters • ISSUE THREE 2022
