NEWS NTDA 2022 Tyre Industry Awards The NTDA has announced the finalists for some of its 2022 Tyre Industry Awards, due to be presented at a ceremony sponsored for the 8th consecutive year by tyre manufacturer Sailun, during the Association’s 93rd Annual Dinner on Thursday 6th October at the VOX Conference Centre, Resorts World, Birmingham. The dinner is, once again, sponsored by long standing NTDA supplier member, and Tyre industry Awards supporter, Maritime Cargo Services, while the awards will be hosted, by popular television personality, journalist, former BBC news presenter and Tri-athlete Louise Minchin. As usual, the 2022 finalists include many former winners, finalists, and some new nominees. The recipient of the Chairman’s Award for Outstanding Contribution to the Tyre Industry – sponsored by Hankook Tyre UK Ltd, together with the recipient of the Chief Executive’s Round and Black Award – sponsored by Goodyear Tyres Ltd and recognising individual altruism in relation to safety, raising standards and improving the trade for others will also be revealed on the 6th October. NTDA Chief Executive Stefan Hay said: “It’s been another terrific year for entries, with some being without rival and after close scrutiny, 49 have made it through to the finals and are now being assessed by our independent panel of judges. As always, I would have liked to have seen more entries from our tyre retailers, distributors, wholesalers and recyclers, especially as I know, from personal experience, the level of excellence many of them operate to, but nevertheless we certainly have a battle on our hands across many award categories. I’m also surprised that more of our aftermarket equipment supplier members aren’t competing for the crown in that category. More than 600 guests have now booked for the 93rd Annual Dinner and we are certain that we’re set for another exceptional, and possibly record-breaking, evening and I am sure that my co-host Louise Minchin will make it even more unique and add her wonderful flair, charm and professionalism to the proceedings.” For more information on the NTDA, visit www.ntda.co.uk or call 01296 482128 Gallagher motor trade team takes on the Beast of Ben Gallagher’s UK motor trade insurance team took part in the recent ‘Beast of Ben’ challenge in Wales, raising over £3,300 at the time of writing to help those in the automotive industry who need it most. Sending two teams – Team Alpha and Ange’s Angels – to the event, which took place over the weekend of 6-8th July 2022, Gallagher’s motor trade colleagues completed a range of gruelling challenges alongside other teams from across the industry. These included abseiling, kayaking, orienteering, and scaling Mount Snowden – all in just two days. Back in the office, Gallagher has also been running fundraising events, including a cake bake sale, in support of the two teams. BEN is the charity working to improve the mental and physical health and wellbeing of those connected with the motor trade. They also provide later life care. Pauline Brookes, Head of Office for Gallagher’s UK motor trade division, said: “We are so pleased to have taken part in this event to help raise money for a fantastic cause. “As one of the leading insurance brokers in the industry, it is important to us that we give back to the motor trade wherever we can. Supporting the work of BEN is important to us. “I am proud of the efforts of our teams who took part, and all the companies and individuals who joined the event. I am sure the money raised will have a positive impact on the lives of many people.” The two teams from Gallagher are still accepting contributions in a bid to smash their fundraising targets.
