COACH’S CORNER
“I am sure that we will have a great elevation from
year one to year two. We are bigger, faster, older,
wiser and stronger with the lessons learned from
season one. We are looking to surprise the masses
around Central Florida. We have a tough district on
our hands but look forward to the challenge. I am
very excited for everyone to see what we already
know about our guys. So, get your popcorn ready!”
Head Coach Dennis Thomas Jr.
Horizon High
“I am incredibly proud of the improvements this group is showing on a
daily basis. Last year, we would play six or seven freshmen at a game on
Friday nights, and around 45 of the 60-plus kids that came out for football
in our program had never played any version of the game in their lives. Our
numbers have grown, [and] the kids are hungry and understand the challenge
of building a program. They didn’t run from it — they’ve attacked it
head on. I expect us to be a much more seasoned, much more competitive
group this season. I also believe we will get that monkey off our backs and
get that elusive first win in LBV history.”
Head Coach Joe Rienzi
Lake Buena Vista High
“Our football team is looking to punch our ticket to the playoffs for the sixth
consecutive year. Part of our sustained success has always been the leadership
offered by our seniors, and this year we have one of the best groups of
seniors in recent memory. Our new district will be a real challenge with two
teams that made deep playoff runs last year, but we are looking forward to
the challenge and a great year ahead!”
