‘NEW ELLERSLIE ROAD STAND…If
all goes according to plan, we shall
open the new Ellerslie Road Stand
for the first time at the Oxford
United match on 2nd December,
1972 (KO 3pm). All seats will be 75p
as the view is perfect from all parts
of the stand. (Our old sub-standard
“E” stand seats are, of course,
no longer in existence – we were
delighted to do away with those
infamous seats whose view was
blocked by all those concrete pillars
and which were situated under
such a leaky roof that spectators
practically had to hold up umbrellas
on rainy days). Please note that,
with the exception of season ticket
holders, all seats in the new stand
will be unreserved and admission
will be gained by paying 75p at the
turnstiles at the time of the match.’
