Colourful local Mary Burgess and her<br />

Dunedin-based sister Rachel Reed surprised<br />

Geraldine shoppers with their riot-ofstyle-and-colour<br />

Pop-Up Shop at Talbot<br />

Streets Lucky Club Parade site last week.<br />

Theyalso say theywillbepoppingback<br />

Their impromptushopisalavisharray<br />

of vintage and new homewares,<br />

contemporary baskets from Sweden and<br />

Myanmar, preloved shoes and clothing,<br />

including plenty of Trelise Cooper items,<br />

crystal and glassware, jewellery, and<br />

pottery by Dunedinartisan Maggie Treweek<br />

who will be on-site on Friday to talk with<br />

visitors about her work.<br />

The sisters,veterans of tradein<br />

household treasures, enjoy turning up<br />

ad hocwithacornucopia of special things,<br />

many of which have spent time in their<br />

own households. We took theopportunity<br />

to fill avacantspot; there was no plan,<br />

says Mary.<br />

Rachel says, Were passionate about<br />

providing preloved beautiful things and<br />

some new bits for people. The preloved<br />

things important now; were trying not<br />

to be throwaway. She says, And Ilove<br />

seeing people get excitedabout thethings<br />

Ilove because Icant keep everything.<br />

Rachel is aformer owner of Dunedin<br />

gifts and floral outlet Step in Thyme. Mary<br />

has run several Geraldine pop-ups, and<br />

the duo ran an Invercargill gift shop for<br />

many years. The Lucky Clubpop-up has<br />

thebest of the best, says Mary.<br />
