Mr. Manzoor Ahmed
Managing Director,
Sindh Toursim
Development
Corporation,
Govt. of Sindh
As the world celebrate
“World Tourism Day” this
year with the theme
“Tourism & Sustainable
Energy: Powering
Sustainable Development”,
Tourism is the most dynamic
sector of the world economy.
As such, we need to fully
exploit its growth potential in
a sustainable way to the
benefit of all citizens.
Keeping in view the changing
circumstances in our region,
the situations call for renewed
stronger partnership amongst
all tourism stakeholders to
effectively promote and
project the tourism potential
in Sindh.
As an industry tourism can
contribute to poverty
eradication, creation of
productive jobs and also be a
dimension in the creation of
much needed social harmony.
After a period of political
turmoil, environmental and
natural disasters, conflicts and
new diseases that have
affected tourist movements,
we are more confident than
ever that tourism in Sindh has
the capacity to successfully
address some of the main
issues which are at the root of
such problems, especially
extreme poverty and social
harmony. So let us celebrate
this year’s World Tourism
Day with a firm resolve to
promote the tourism potential
of the country which will help
build better understanding of
our true image as a peace
loving country among the
comity of nations.
We are currently recovering
from the biggest flood and
rain disasters hit our region
ever. In this time of need, we
hope that the local and
international tourism
community will also come
together in support of Sindh’s
rich cultural, historical,
archaeological and national
heritage in ‘Tourism &
Sustainable Energy: Powering
Sustainable Development’
that is being the theme of this
year’s World Tourism Day.
STDC aims to place Sindh
once again on the map as one
of the most attractive tourist
destinations.
With best compliments
