CELEBRATED every year on 17th March,
St Patrick's Day honours Patrick (the patron
saint of Ireland) and Irish culture. It's an
enormous day of celebration filled with
traditional music, dance, eating, and
drinking. And regardless of your heritage,
everyone is welcome to be Irish on St
Patddy's Day! Are you ready to
shamRock'n'Roll?
Here are five suggestions on how to
make the most of the day, but be mindful, it
should be treated as a marathon not a
sprint. Pace yourself.
1) Paddy's Eve, go to bed early and get a
good night's sleep.
2) Make the most of St Patrick's Day, rise
early and enjoy a traditional Irish breakfast.
3) Wear green. What is the significance
of wearing green? According to Irish
folklore wearing green makes you invisible
to leprechauns and safe from their
shenanigans (mischief). Leperachauns
(shoemakers for the fairies) are native to
Ireland. It is believed to be extremely good
luck if you manage to catch one of these illmannered
mystical beings. Apparently you
will be granted three wishes. The best way
to snare one is to bait your trap with gold.
4) Experience the flavours of Ireland.
Drink an Irish beverage, such as Guinness,
Jameson Whiskey or Bailieys Irish Cream
and feast on authentic Irish fare, such as
Irish Stew and soda bread.
5) Stay hydrated. Drink plenty of water
between tipples.
“Lá Fhéile Pádraig sona duit!”
