CONSTRUCTION – COMMERCIAL | PEOPLE DREW BEEKIE Director, CBC Construction Following a 22-year career in commercial construction in the UK, Drew moved to New Zealand and cofounded CBC (part of Classic Group) in 2006. CBC has completed some of Tauranga’s most iconic buildings and is known for delivering what is promised. Most weekends Drew will be eating out, on a golf course, or the lake. DANIEL WATKINS Director, Classic Collectives With 17 years in the property sector in both New Zealand and the United Kingdom, Daniel has a wealth of knowledge and is well versed in all aspects of the property lifecycle, from acquisition, lease negotiation, project management and property management. Dan spends his weekends outdoors with his young family, fishing, golfing, and mountain biking. ROGER BAILEY Managing Director, Grime Off Now Tauranga Eight years ago, Roger established Grime Off Now in the Bay. With Roger’s engineering background combined with an enthusiasm for innovation, the Grime Off team are encouraged to use the smartest techniques to achieve outstanding commercial property wash maintenance results. Outside of work Roger can be found developing his avocado orchard in rural Welcome Bay. JAKE MCDELL Commercial Manager BOP, Fosters Moving back to the Bay in 2021, I was drawn to joining an organisation that contributed to a better community. Fosters aligned with so many of my values, particularly honesty and integrity. Growing in skillset and leadership capabilities, I find coming to work each day is both enjoyable and inspirational. GREG JOHNSTON General Manager/Director, Marra Construction 35 years in the building industry has allowed me to work on numerous projects and to create special relationships with various stakeholders in the construction sector. It can be a challenging industry therefore time out is getting away with my wife Heather camping, mountain biking and spending special moments with our two daughters. COWORKING SPACES | PEOPLE STEVEN VINCENT CO-FOUNDER, BASESTATION Steven Vincent, co-founder of Basestation was coworking long before coworking was a thing. He operated his original office in a “coworking” setting in 1999 - even though he didn’t know that term yet! The concept allowed him to get his business started; no lease, no overheads, and good connections and advice from the people he was sharing the space with. In 2014 Basestation opened its doors to the entrepreneurial community. Fast forward nine years and the concept of coworking is now synonymous with Tauranga’s most established dedicated coworking space. Basestation is a place that continues to bring people together to share resources such as hot desks, meetings and office space, as well as a large event facility. The physical space has grown in scale over the years, but what remains unchanged is the community ethos. Steven is proud that people and relationships form the heart of what Basestation is all about. Originally from Ireland, mum of three teens, and passionate about music, most of my previous career was as a singer. Like lots of creatives, I’ve made a few lattes in my time too! I became The Kollective manager in January 2022. Every day brings something new, which is just the way I like it. I love seeing people happy in their workplace. For me it’s about creating a safe space and culture to allow our members to connect with others and thrive in their vital community roles. We offer different memberships and meeting spaces for 1-120 people as well as technology solutions, and events to help you build connections and capability. Get in touch if you’d like to know more. www.thekollective.org.nz JADE MADDOX director, bloom co A year after the Christchurch earthquakes, Jade Maddox moved to Tauranga, embarking on a period of personal and professional growth which culminated in the development of her co-working business, Bloom Co, three years ago. “I’ve never looked back,” Jade says. “The Tauranga business community is so welcoming, and with the influx of entrepreneurs, this is a fabulous place to live and work.” Jade’s passion for supporting people in business stems from her early career in executive recruitment and HR. Now, as a Tauranga Business Chamber board member, she sees first-hand the impact that doing good business is having in our community. “It’s bought me such joy to create a workspace where people organically connect and thrive in their businesses” says Jade. In her current role as a member of the team at Shared Workspaces in Tauranga, Angeline has the opportunity to interact with tenants, members, and event attendees on a daily basis.
