HISTORY
Grove City Child Care opened in 1989 on Columbus Street with 13 staff and 56 children.
In 1990, Grove City Church of the Nazarene founded Grove City Christian School as part of the master
plan. Several families within the church community expressed the need to start the school. It was
always intended to be an outreach of GCCN and remain a part of the church. The goal was to see every
student grounded in the Word and able to defend his or her beliefs.
The first kindergarten class had 15 students, most of whom were children of church members. It was
the mission of the school board to add a grade level every year as the original class progressed. The
goal was never large enrollment but rather to provide a solid Christian education for students. The
school occupied the space now known as the Early Elementary Wing.
“LET THE LITTLE CHILDREN COME
TO ME, AND DO NOT HINDER THEM,
FOR THE KINGDOM OF HEAVEN
BELONGS TO SUCH AS THESE.”
MATTHEW 19:14
