GIOVANNI BENEDETTO PLATTI (1697-1763) ANDROMEDA ARCHIPEL 2 Luca Guglielmi fortepiano and harpsichord The Late Keyboard Sonatas Platti’s sonatas for keyboard instruments have a certain modernity characterised by the richness and imagination of the composer’s continual invention of motifs in rhythms which are never ordinary and the use of modulation. The three divertimentos on this recording are part of Op.16, written for two violins, obbligato flute, viola, two cellos and ripieno bass. This CD marks the beginning of a long-term cooperation between Accent and Piccolo Concerto Wien. The second volume will follow later this year. It is performed by Martin Gabriel, who has made many recordings including the Strauss Oboe Concerto with Previn on DG.
