Way safer cycling
We’re making it easier and safer
for people to cycle.
We’ve received Government funding to improve
cycling connections to link neighbourhoods,
schools, work, shops and existing cycle routes.
We’re also improving pedestrian safety
with a raised pedestrian crossing and
signalised crossings.
Here’s some of what’s proposed
RI
Barrington
We’re proposing a route along Simeon
Street to improve connections to the
Little River Link cycleway that runs
alongside the Southern Motorway,
Quarryman’s Trail and Barrington
Shopping Centre.
Aidanfield
We’re proposing a sealed shared path
through Nash Reserve to connect
the Little River Link cycleway to Date
Crescent, via the Southern Motorway
Heathcote River underpass.
We’re also proposing to improve
cycling connections around Ngā Puna
Wai by creating a sealed shared path
that connects to Wigram Road and
the Little River Link cycleway via the
Hayton Road underpass.

Westmorland
We’re proposing a dedicated
cycleway along both sides of
Cashmere Road, between Oderings
and Hoon Hay Road. From Oderings
to Penruddock Rise, we are
investigating installing a shared
path cycleway.
To improve pedestrian safety,
we propose to install pedestrian
crossings with safe speed platforms
at the intersections of Cashmere
Road and Penruddock Rise, and
Cashmere Road and Opihi Street.
Safe speed platforms help to lower
speed at the approach to the
intersection so drivers can stop in
time if they need to.
We’re also proposing a pedestrian
crossing with a safe speed platform
outside Oderings Garden Centre.
