THE <strong>2023</strong> Hospitality New<br />
Zealand Awards for Excellence<br />
winners have been<br />
announced.<br />
Hosted by Hospitality New<br />
Zealand in partnership with<br />
principal sponsor Lion New<br />
Zealand and industry<br />
partners, the annual Awards<br />
recognise and celebrate the<br />
success, achievements, and the<br />
resilience of people across the<br />
hospitality and<br />
accommodation sector in New<br />
Zealand.<br />
Over 600 industry people<br />
attended the black tie event<br />
held at the Pullman Hotel in<br />
Auckland, where the<br />
Richmond Club Christchurch<br />
scooped the People’s Choice<br />
Award. e Award, voted on<br />
by the public, was open to<br />
nalists across every category.<br />
e Richmond Club has<br />
been a part of the Richmond<br />
community since 1880. Badly<br />
damaged in the 2011<br />
Canterbury quakes, the<br />
original building was replaced<br />
by an exciting new<br />
architecturally designed<br />
building providing members<br />
great dining, bars, sports<br />
facilities and events centre in<br />
stunning modern<br />
surroundings.<br />
<br />
"e People’s Choice Awards is the 2nd biggest award<br />
given out, and this the award we really wanted," said<br />
Jimmy Summereld, general manager. "is award is our<br />
members, guest, suppliers, schools, community<br />
organizations and many, many more wonderful<br />
supporters of our wonderful club having their say. It also<br />
reects the culture within our amazing staff, the direction<br />
the club is going and what our club offers. ere were<br />
over 75 outstanding businesses in the running, and little<br />
old Richmond smashed it out of the park!"<br />
Two other Christchurch businesses also claimed<br />
Awards.<br />
Kaiser Brew Garden not only won the pinnacle Supreme<br />
Winner Award, but took out Best Bar, and Best<br />
Marketed Establishment, while the Hornby Club won the<br />
Excellence in a Gaming Club, RSA or Sporting Venue<br />
Award.<br />
