THE NEXT generation of <strong>Selwyn</strong><br />
netballers rounded off their season with a<br />
fun day full of games, prizes and costumes<br />
on Sunday.<br />
Year 5 and 6 teams from across the<br />
district made the most of the sunny conditions<br />
at the Lincoln courts, playing in a<br />
series of shortened games.<br />
Prizes were on the line for best-dressed,<br />
while teams could participate in skills<br />
competitions between games.<br />
The CERI teams of the year for each of<br />
the grades were announced at the end of<br />
the day.<br />
Nominations were collected over the<br />
last few weeks for teams that have been<br />
representing <strong>Selwyn</strong>’s four centre values<br />
of community, enjoyment, respect and<br />
integrity throughout the season.<br />
This year’s popular costume theme was<br />
Barbie, with the Lincoln Trailblazers team<br />
bringing with them a life-sized Barbie box<br />
for everyone to enjoy.<br />
Centre manager Tash Dillon said the<br />
fun day is one of her favourite events of the<br />
year due to the enjoyment experienced.<br />
“Events like this really ignite our netball<br />
community. It is such a privilege to be<br />
involved in,” she said.<br />
“Not only does our fun day provide a<br />
great day for our teams, it also brings an<br />
opportunity for our junior umpires to gain<br />
further experience and be a part of this<br />
fantastic day!”<br />
