New Rotary book fair convenor<br />

The Rotary Club of Rangiora’s annual<br />
book fair has anew convenor this year.<br />
Alan McElroy has only been involved<br />
with the Rangiora club since moving to<br />
the town three years ago.<br />
However he has been aRotarian since<br />
1986, and has awealth of experience<br />
organising the Rotary Club of<br />
Invercargill’s annual book sale.<br />
Alan’s role as convenor of the<br />
Rangiora club’s book fair involves coordinating<br />
all the many ‘‘moving parts’’<br />
connected with organising the threeday<br />
event.<br />
The book fair will be held next month<br />
at the Rangiora A&P Showgrounds in<br />
Ashley Street, beginning on Thursday<br />
September 28, from 5pm to 9pm.<br />
It continues on Friday September 29,<br />
from 9am to 7.30pm, and on Saturday<br />
September 30, from 9am to 5pm.<br />
The collection bins for the sale go out<br />
tomorrow, Friday, <strong>August</strong> 25, and will be<br />
available for donations to be dropped off<br />
in Rangiora at the ZService Station,<br />
Rangiora New World and Mitre 10 Mega.<br />
‘‘People can help us by donating<br />
books, DVDs, CD’s, puzzles and<br />
records,’’ Mr McElroy says.<br />
For those unable to drop off any<br />
donations at the three collection points,<br />
arrangements can be made to collect the<br />
items by emailing galanmac@xtra.co.nz.<br />
Besides the huge selection of books<br />
available at the fair, this year there will<br />
also be alarge collection of jigsaw<br />
puzzles again to choose from.<br />
‘‘They always sell very well,’’ Mr<br />
McElroy says.<br />
The book fair is the Rotary Club of<br />
Rangiora’s big fundraiser for the year.<br />
Money raised goes back into the<br />
community supporting groups,<br />
initiatives and organisations.<br />
