Kaikōura business park
By DAVID HILL,
Local Democracy Reporter
Anew business park to the south of
Kaikōura is set to be ‘‘a game changer’’
for the town.
The Kaikōura District Council has
notified aprivate plan change request
from Kaikōura Business Park Ltd (2021)
to build abusiness park on a21.6 hectare
site on the corner of Inland Kaikōura
Road and State Highway 1.
Plan change 4was lodged with the
council earlier this year, but later
withdrawn while the applicant made
some changes.
These included addressing the
potential effects of nonlight industrial
activities.
Mayor Craig Mackle said the business
park will be ‘‘a game changer’’ for the
town, if it goes ahead.
The development will bring light
industrial businesses together in one
location, taking some pressure off Beach
Road.
Under the proposed changes, some
retail will be allowed, which
complements the light industrial
businesses.
