From Comics to Storyboards, A Multifaceted<br />

Artistic Journey<br />

Born on June 19, 1973, <strong>in</strong> Mart<strong>in</strong>ez,<br />

California, Dan Fraga is a versatile<br />

artist whose creative talents have<br />

left an <strong>in</strong>delible mark on <strong>the</strong> worlds<br />

of comic books, storyboards, concept art,<br />

animation, and film direction. His multifaceted<br />

career has encompassed a wide range<br />

of artistic endeavors, showcas<strong>in</strong>g his ability<br />

to adapt and excel <strong>in</strong> various mediums.<br />

Fraga’s artistic journey began immediately<br />

after high school when he was hired as an<br />

illustrator for Rob Liefeld’s Extreme Studios,<br />

a found<strong>in</strong>g partner studio of Image Comics.<br />

This marked <strong>the</strong> beg<strong>in</strong>n<strong>in</strong>g of his career <strong>in</strong><br />

<strong>the</strong> comic book <strong>in</strong>dustry, where he played<br />

a pivotal role dur<strong>in</strong>g <strong>the</strong> formative years of<br />

Image Comics. His contributions to titles like<br />

“Spider-Man,” “Bloodstrike,” “Black Flag,”<br />

“Kid Supreme,” “Superman,” “Black Pan<strong>the</strong>r,”<br />

“Witchblade,” and “Wolver<strong>in</strong>e” solidified<br />

his reputation as a dynamic comic book<br />

In April 2020, Dan Fraga revitalized <strong>the</strong><br />

“Black Flag” <strong>in</strong>tellectual property with <strong>the</strong><br />

graphic novel “Black Flag: P<strong>in</strong>eapple Perception.”<br />

The project, crowdfunded on Indiegogo,<br />

received enthusiastic support from<br />

fans, rais<strong>in</strong>g over $200,000 by February<br />

2021. Fraga’s modernized take on “Black<br />

Flag” reflects his endur<strong>in</strong>g passion for storytell<strong>in</strong>g<br />

and artistic <strong>in</strong>novation.<br />

Dan Fraga’s artistic odyssey cont<strong>in</strong>ues<br />

to evolve and captivate audiences across<br />

diverse mediums. His ability to seamlessly<br />

transition between <strong>the</strong> worlds of comics,<br />

In addition to his contributions to comic<br />

books, Fraga ventured <strong>in</strong>to <strong>the</strong> realms of<br />

film and animation, mak<strong>in</strong>g a name for himself<br />

as <strong>the</strong> director of <strong>the</strong> highly acclaimed<br />

“Ricky Gervais Show.” His skills extended<br />

to work with Mattel and <strong>the</strong> “Monster High”<br />

franchise, where he served as an animation<br />

director, contribut<strong>in</strong>g to <strong>the</strong> development of<br />

beloved characters.<br />

As a storyboard artist, Dan Fraga lent his<br />

talents to a diverse range of projects, <strong>in</strong>clud<strong>in</strong>g<br />

commercials for Hershey’s and Victoria’s<br />

Secret, as well as music videos for renowned<br />

artists such as Just<strong>in</strong> Timberlake and Beyoncé.<br />

His storyboard work expanded beyond<br />

illustration, encompass<strong>in</strong>g responsibilities<br />

such as set design and visual effects supervision.<br />

One of Fraga’s notable creations <strong>in</strong> <strong>the</strong><br />

world of comics is <strong>the</strong> fictional superhero<br />

team and comic book series “Black Flag.”<br />
