Bachus said she still endeavors to finetune
her content and has learned talking to
a camera isn’t as easy as it looks.
However, she always can lean on her
upbringing on a farm outside of Wheatland
to help convey her fondness for and
interest in gardening and cooking to her
audience.
Growing up growing things
The person to whom Bachus attributes
her knowledge of cooking and gardening
is her mom, Jill.
“We always cooked and gardened
together,” Bachus shared. “From a young
age, she would put me in the wagon while
she was gardening. I learned to like the
garden. I’m not all that great at it, but I
enjoy it. It was something we always did
and was always fun. It was the same with
cooking; we were expected to cook as a
family, but it never seemed like a chore.
We always did it together and it was fun.”
Bachus by no means considers herself
an expert on the subject matter she discusses
on Allens Grove Acres.

One point she wants to get across to
her viewers is no one else is expected to
become an expert, either.
“I’m very transparent that I don’t know
what I’m doing all the time,” Bachus
related. “I just think it’s so important to
grow your own food. Maybe some people
just need to see someone else show them
how, and they’ll start doing it, too. You
