2022 was the first year that Glenda
Stevens exhibited at SLOPOKE
and she was selected for the Best
of Show Award for her display of
dramatic rodeo action paintings
characterized by Ridin’ Crawdad
and Bull Rider, both large 40 x48
inch paintings. Her curiosity leads
her to paint a variety of different
subjects from western ranch
life, to southwestern themes,
religious art, landscapes, still lifes,
and sometimes the racy side of
society. Glenda has always been
creative which her parents recognized.
At age eleven they encouraged
her to study acrylic painting
with an impassioned art teacher.
“She taught me to be fearless and
free to express myself in my art.”
By age 13 Glenda won first place
for an abstract painting and went
on to have a solo show at only
15 years of age. Excelling in art in
high school, Glenda was awarded
a scholarship to Mount St. Mary’s
College. After her studies she
