“Ik ben skies/fariz // not
ur type of artist. Living
in the dream while using
photography as a form of
therapy, crafting artistic
creations from paper and
transforming them into
something madness.
[I try to] tell and make
people realize about
different perspectives in
this world, and also to
care more about your
surroundings. cuz art is
not only a medium but it’s
a mindset”
Fariz
For me, Fariz represents
the sort of hard-working,
relentless creative
energy so typical of
the Indo art scene. His
photographs - typically
night scenes, with their
long exposure glaring
lights or mysterious
tranquility, capture
urban ennui beautifully.
But his perormance like
interventions - artworks
pasted ad-hoc in the
physical environment
with no announcement
or preconceived
audience - are an act of
anti-art that hint at the
fire in the belly of this
otherwise tranquil artist
