Rotherham’s
Crossroads Care
calling for more
volunteers
If you find you’ve got more
time on your hands in 2024,
could you use it to support
Rotherham’s unpaid carers?
For the last 35 years, Rotherham based
Crossroads Care have been providing a range of
services to give unpaid carers a break from their
caring responsibilities. One in five adults care for
a parent, child, spouse or friend, with over 30,000
unpaid carers in Rotherham.
Crossroads Care can help in various ways,

from giving information, training and signposting
to other support services, to providing CQC
outstanding rated domiciliary and respite care.
They have carers groups throughout the
borough in Kiveton Park, Kimberworth Park and
at their head office at Bradmarsh Business Park.
Last year, they opened a dementia-specific
day centre at their HQ and launched a new
bereavement group to expand their support
services to those who cared for someone who
has since died.
And this January, their popular café and charity
shop, The Corner, which opened in 2019, is
moving just round the corner to larger premises
on Bridgegate.
To provide all these services to unpaid
carers, Crossroads Care rely on the support oof
volunteers. In 2024, they would like to welcome
even more volunteers to the team which in turn
will enable them to reach out to more of the
unpaid carers’ community in Rotherham.
You could help with things like their telephone
befriending service or spend a few hours at the
support groups or day centre.
Being a Crossroads Care volunteer brings with
it many positives including reducing isolation,
learning new skills, making new friends, and
enhancing your CV.

2023 Rotherham Christmas Toy
Appeal was.

Thanks to the support of Rotherham people,
over 2,250 children and young people received a
gift to open on Christmas morning.
This appeal is unique to Rotherham because
it brings the town together. Rotherham
people are generous and care a great deal
about the children and young people living in
their community.
I am truly amazed and thankful that so many
local businesses, churches, libraries, schools and
members of the public got involved by buying
gifts to donate. If you picked a tag off the giving
trees at Parkgate Shopping, then thank you.
I’m also grateful to our local media, including
Rotherham Radio, the Rotherham Advertiser
and especially Aroundtown Magazine, who all
promoted the appeal. Without this support, we
could not have achieved the number of gifts that
were donated – so a massive thank you again.
I hope you woke up on Christmas morning with
a smile on your face. You helped a Rotherham
child or young person feel that someone cared
about them.
