and Media Makeup<br />
Jessica has been a student at<br />
RNN group for nine years, having<br />
started on a level two course.<br />
She is now enrolled on the PGCE<br />
course at UCR to become a tutor in<br />
specialist makeup.<br />
In her speech, she thanked<br />
her parents, partner and course<br />
mentors at college who have<br />
helped her achieve her degree while<br />
juggling life as a first-time mum.<br />
“I came back to do my BA<br />
while pregnant and buying my first<br />
house; I knew it wasn’t going to be<br />
easy doing such a practical course<br />
and working with real clients while<br />
feeling ill. Throw in a newborn midcourse<br />
and a cloud of post-natal<br />
depression and those 500-word<br />
essays weren’t easy to write. But<br />
I got there. And hopefully I’ll be<br />
back in two years’ time to graduate<br />
again.”<br />

Rotherham-born Rebecca made<br />
the bold decision to go down the<br />
unfamiliar path of drone technology<br />
after a successful career in finance.<br />
The company she founded<br />
has become globally recognised<br />
and she is a STEM ambassador<br />
for women in the industry. In her<br />
speech to the graduates, she told<br />
them how they are the architects<br />
of their own destiny and should<br />
embrace every opportunity to learn<br />
and evolve.<br />
“Never create your own glass<br />
ceiling. The greatest opportunities<br />
lie beyond your comfort zone.<br />
Nurture your passions and what<br />
fills your heart with purpose. For<br />
me, I knew that drones brought<br />
value and a better way of doing<br />
things. Passion will act as your<br />
compass guiding you through the<br />
rollercoaster of life.<br />
“Let perseverance be the<br />
constant companion through times<br />
of darkness; I’ve had moments<br />
of self-doubt that have tested me<br />
more than sleep deprivation with a<br />
three-week-old baby, but life is not<br />
without its challenges. Never stop<br />
learning from others or considering<br />
different perspectives. And let your<br />
intellectual curiosity be the catalyst<br />
for your personal and professional<br />
growth.”<br />
