At Papanui High School positive
relationships are at the forefront of

an opportunity for all students to learn

The opportunity to learn from an
innovative and broad curriculum is
critical to providing a pathway that meets
each student’s individual needs. Papanui
High School allows for a greater range
and flexibility in subject choice including
the utilization of the secondary/tertiary
interface. This reinforces the philosophy
underpinning personalised learning and is
strongly supported by understanding our
students’ interests, passions, talents, and
ultimately their career aspirations.
We understand that for effective learning
to take place, it has to be implemented
in such a way that students will be highly
engaged. The school does this in a ‘forward
thinking’ way by creating learning
environments that allow our students to
see value in what they do and achieve.
Papanui “PRIDE” is what we represent,
and we demonstrate this by having young
adults leave our school as confident
learners who have gained the appropriate
qualifications and social skills to become
valued contributing members of society.
All that we do here is reinforced by
positive relationships, an ethos of caring,
cultural responsiveness, inclusion, and
high expectations. The school highly
values the connectedness between
curricular and co-curricular learning
and forming partnerships with our
wider school community. We have a
philosophical understanding that the
holistic development of the student is
critical to individual success.

consolidate recent initiatives to ensure
sustained and continuous improvement.

In 2024 we are looking forward to
welcoming new students along with a
new principal Mr Robert Gilbert. Robert
returns to Christchurch after serving
as Deputy Principal at Tauranga Boys’
College for the past eight years. He has a
background in the Arts, and previously
held positions of responsibility at Aranui
High School and Rangi Ruru Girls’ School.

be available on the 23rd and 24th January for course changes. Other
students may receive an email to advise them of an appointment time on

On the table in under 20 minutes, this easy vegetarian halloumi salad is
perfect when time is short
Super Easy Halloumi
Salad
Ingredients
250g pearl couscous
500g halloumi, sliced
1 Tbsp Moroccan spice mix
2 zucchini, sliced
Directions
Cook couscous in a saucepan of boiling
water following packet directions. Drain.
Meanwhile, pat halloumi dry with
paper towel. Sprinkle with spice mix.
Spray a non-stick frying pan with oil.
Heat pan over medium heat. Cook
halloumi 1-2min each side or until
golden. Set aside. Spray pan with oil

250g cherry tomato medley, halved
½ cup fresh parsley leaves
½ cup fresh mint leaves, torn
1 Tbsp tahini
2 Tbsp Greek yoghurt
1 small garlic clove, crushed
1 lemon, rind finely grated, juiced
2 Tbsp pomegranate seeds
2 pita breads, toasted, torn
again. Cook zucchini 1-2min until just
coloured.
Combine couscous, zucchini, tomatoes,
parsley and mint in a large bowl. Season
well. Combine tahini, yoghurt, garlic and
lemon rind in a small bowl. Season. Add
lemon juice to taste.
Divide salad among serving bowls or
arrange on a platter. Top with halloumi
and pomegranate. Drizzle with dressing.
Serve with pita.
