learning? The WEA might
have the answer…
Every term CWEA offers classes and
workshops in the evening and weekends for
people like you whose daily commitments
restrict access to learning opportunities.
New options include: a debating group to
hone critical thinking skills, how to craft
an argument and equip you to counter
pervasive erroneous views. This starts on 20
February, 6.30-8pm and runs fortnightly.
Chris Beardsley will run an 8-week
Pre-Retirement Planning course from
6-8pm that starts on Monday 5 February.
Ideal for those who want to maximise the
opportunities of this life phase.
If printmaking appeals, join Diane Swain
from Monday 4 March from 6-8pm for
4 weeks. Explore native Flora and Fauna
through woodcuts, mono prints, stencil and
simple screen prints.
If you prefer weekends celebrate Seaweek
by learning how to carve a stamp from
an old eraser with Anthea Ibell of Remix
Plastics on Sunday 10 March. There are two
options morning or afternoon. Or avoid the
nasties in commercial skincare products
and eliminate packaging waste with Jo Day
of Mcginns Made Fresh. She will teach
you how to make natural alternatives.
Deodorant on February 10, Lipstick on
March 9 and Mineral Foundation on 6
April. All workshops run from 1.30-4pm

Community Education Courses Term 1 2024
Try something new
in the new year!
Are you wanting to learn something new
or just wanting to further your knowledge
and skills in a particular area? There are
many reasons why people wish to continue
to learn. Come along to Papanui High
School and enrol in one of our popular
classes where you will enjoy getting together
with like minded people.
Our tutors are well experienced in their
chosen field and are wanting to help make
your learning experience rewarding so
whether this is your first time returning to
the classroom or whether you are a regular
course junkie we know that you will find a
course that will give you the opportunity to
extend your personal skills and knowledge
and meet some new people in an enjoyable,
relaxed, friendly environment.
For Term 1 2024 we are offering a wide
range of courses from Arts and Crafts,
Languages including NZ Sign Language,
Exercise and Fitness, Food and Cooking,
Music, Photography and more! Some of
the new courses on offer for Term 1 include
Dance Fitness, Special Effects Makeup,
Oil Painting Portraiture, Basics of Cyber
Security and Genetic Genealogy to name a
few.
Our classes for Term 1 begin the week
of 12 February and most run for seven
weeks. Classes are held in the evenings
but there are some weekend workshops
