Minutes of the .Executive Committee - Second
Regular Meeting
Date: 10 :00 A.M., September 8th, 1968
Place: Home of Catherine Gotthoffer-223 S.
Arden Boulevard, Los Angeles, Calif.
Present: Suzanne Balderston, Grace Follet,
Catherine Gotthoffer, Dorothy Remsen, Ann Mason
Stockton, and Dorothy Victor.
MINUTES: The minutes of the last meeting
were read and approved.
TREASURER'S REPORT: Dorothy Victor reported
that the following accounts had been
turned over to her from New York:
Greenwich Savings Bank Account-
Balance of $6636.21
American Harp Journal Account-
Balance of $1479.65
She also reported that our books would be audited
annually by Tilles and Gest, Certified Public Accountants.
MEMBERSHIP DIRECTORY: Suzanne Balderston
reported that the Membership Directory
was not included in the mailing of the dues renewal
notices and contest information because of
its bulk. It will be mailed separately within the
next week.
1969 NATIONAL COMPETITION: The change
of the deadline date for entry blanks from April 1
to February 1, 1969, was approved.
1969 NATIONAL CONFERENCE: The President
reported that Eileen Malone, Conference Coordinator
for the 1969 National Conference, has
received a definite commitment from the Eastman
School of Music in Rochester for the dates of
Thursday, June 26 through Sunday, June 29.
URSULA KW ASNICKA: CON GERT TOUR:
The President read a letter from Pearl Chertok
which spelled out the proposed tour dates as follows:
October 19 - New York City
October 25 - San Francisco
October 27 - Los Angeles
November 3 - Santa Barbara
November 9 - San Diego
Marion Fouse and the Portland Chapter are attempting
to arrange a date for her prior to
October 25.
MARTHA BAIRD ROCKEFELLER FUND:
This fund is available to promising young artists
SPRING/1969
to perform with a symphony orchestra in a solo
capacity. The request must come from the conductor
and there must be a minimum of six performances
with the same orchestra. The performer
will be paid a fee of $150. per concert
plus expenses by the fund. The Executive Committee
commends Pearl Chertok for securing this
opportunity for our young artists. Please contact
her for further details.
COMMITTEE CHAIRMAN: T he President
asked for and received the concurrance of the
Executive Committee to invite the following members
to become Chairmen of standing committees:
Marcel Grandjany - Chapter Chairman
Anne Adams - Rules Committee Chairman
Ruth Cobb - Publicity Chairman
NON-PROFIT ORGANIZATION MAILING
PERMIT - It was moved, seconded and carried
that Suzanne Balderston investigate the possibility
of obtaining a non-profit organization mailing
permit from the Postoffice in order to reduce our
postage rates for future bulk mailings.
LETTER FROM MIMI ALLEN: The President
read a letter from Mimi Allen requesting
authorization to contact all regional directors in
a general manner regarding the forthcoming regional
contests and also the availability of tape
recordings now on file in the national society's
library. Authorization was granted.
The meeting was adjourned at 1 :30 P.M.
