storms, floods and flu, we had very good
attendance!
In March we will present Stanley Chaloupka
and Paula Schertzinger, harpists
with the Los Angeles Philharmonic, in the
second concert this season for the Scholarship
Fund. Also in the Spring will be another
Young People's Concert. The Harp
Workshop continues to meet each month.
Eight students of Susann McDonald performed
at the Music Educator's National
Conference in Honolulu in March.

Even though the Fifth Annual Harp Conference
is over, and behind us, we have
settled down to chapter business. In August,
we mixed business with pleasure, and
to celebrate our successful conclusion of
the conference had a wonderful "Family
Barbeque" at the home of Mrs. Eileen Gray,
followed by a little harp music played by
members of the Chapter. Every one of us
are proud of our accomplishment in regard
to the Conference, and we especially thank
our past president, Suzanne Balderston, for
being an inspiration and guide as well as
the best of organizers.
Some months later, in November, our
Chapter sponsored a harp recital by Ursula
K wasnicka. The proceeds were placed in
our scholarship fund which is named the
Nellie Mellinger Scholarship Fund. Mrs.
Mellinger was our first honorary member.
Miss K wasnicka was guest of honor at a
reception and buff et dinner following her
outstanding performance.
At a special meeting in December, our
Chapter president resigned her office, due
to the fact she was elected National Secretary
of the Society. At the same meeting,
Mrs. Eileen Gray was appointed temporary
president. At the January meeting, Mrs.
Gray was elected president. Other members
were nominated and elected. First Vice
President, Sister Virginia Joseph La Lanne ;
Second Vice President, Mrs. Phyllis Miller;
Secretary, Sister Naomi Masten; Treasurer,
Mrs. Eileen Dismuke.
A committee was formed at the December
meeting to write a set of local by-laws to
conform with the National by-laws. In January,
the proposed by-laws were read for
adoption and approval by Sister Virginia
