LA URA NEWELL played the Debussy Sonata
for Flute, Viola and Harp with Karl
Kraber, flute and John Graham, viola, on
February 12th for the Performer's Committee
for Twentieth-Century Music at Columbia
University.
A summer harp workshop will be held in
France by SUSANN McDONALD from
July 21st to August 8th. Special guest lecturers
will include Mme. LILY LASKINE,
Mme. SOLANGE RENIE, Mlle. FRAN­
COIS DES VARENNES and Mr. P. W.
SCHLIESTETT, who will lecture in music
theory. Instruction will cover preparation
for various international competitions,
chamber music literature, harp ensembles,
theory and solfeggio, and will include a gala

LOUISE ZUERN will be playing in April
with the Minot Symphony Orchestra in Williston,
North Dakota. The concert is a benefit
sponsored by the Williston Thursday
Music Club, affiliated with the National
Federation of Music Clubs.
The April meeting of the Williston] North
Dakota chapter of the American Association
of University Women will feature
MARTHA HUSET in a program of nineteenth
and twentieth century music. Mrs.
Huset will also give a harp demonstration
at the Wilkinson School in Williston in May.

FRANCISCO STATE AEOLIAN HARP
ENSEMBLE appeared on the Youth Concerts
series in February at Palo Alto.

department consisting of SUSAN MAZER,
SUSAN BRO-\VN GARDNER, GEORGE
SCHLESINGER, ENID FELD and DEB­
ORAH LEONG will present a recital under
the direction of MARJORIE CHA UVEL in
April. Students of MARJORIE CHAUVEL
will also be heard in recital on May 11th,
in the First Methodist Church in Palo Alto.
Harpists will include BETH ZELINSKI,
CELESTE EVERSON, CARLA WONG,
NANETTE CHAUVEL, SIDNEY HAR­
VEY, PAMELA RADFORD, JAN MY­
ERS, MARGARET BAIRD, CHRIS HOL­
VICK, DEBORAH STOLESEN, DEB­
ORAH LEONG and SHARON O'BAN­
NON.
Miss Chauvel will conduct a harp clinic
for harpists of High School or Junior High
School age from August 9th to 16th at the
Berkeley Music Camp "Cazadero" in Mendicino
County, California. Information can

CELESTE EVERSON, sixteen year old
harpist from Los Altos, California, will accompany
the California Youth Symphony on
a tour of Australia in June. She recently appeared
in a fund raising concert with the
orchestra with DUKE ELLINGTON as soloist.
A second benefit in May will have
JACK BENNY as guest soloist.
EFRAT LA VRY ZAKLAD has established
a harp program in the Stockton, California
School System, with students ranging
from Elementary to High School age.
The program was developed by DENNIS
LUFKIN of the Stockton School System
whose interest came from his participation
( as a graduate student) in the harp course
offered at San Francisco State College.
ADELE TRYTKO was harpist for the
Christmas concert given by the Perkins
School for the Blind in Waterton, Massachusetts.
The recital series of the New York Public
Library continues to give considerable prominence
to harp programs. On October 9th an
ensemble composed of ISELA GOMEZ
ROSSI, INN A MARINEL and GERALD
GOODMAN presented a program. Included
were a Gavotte by Gretchaninov and Prelude
et la Romanesca by Glazounov, originally
dedicated to the MARINEL HARP
TRIO of Paris. On the same program Miss
