TIIE SIXTII NATIONAL CONFERENCE R.OCHESTEB, NEW YORK, JUNE 26-30, <strong>1969</strong> The Sixth National Conference of the American Harp Society will be held June 26-30 at the world-famous Eastman School of Music of the University of Rochester, New York. The Schedule of Events is designed to present something of interest to each of our members. Due to the success of the workshops last year, we have decided to expand two of them this year-"Building a Harp Program in the Public Schools" with a demonstration by pupils of the public schools of Rochester, and a Symposium on Harp Technique with discussion of "How can the harpist become a more flexible musician in keeping with the sounds of today?". The symposium members will demonstrate their remarks at the harp. As you all know, there is a National Competition in progress this year. The Regional winners will compete at the Conference and the final results will be announced at the banquet with the presentation of the trophies. This is an excellent opportunity to hear talented students and young professionals from all over the country. Of great interest will be the varied programs of music for the harp: a solo recital by Edward Vito, a chamber music program featuring outstanding professional performers, a solo presentation by Robert Maxwell and a concert of new and recently discovered old music. We are fortunate to have the generous cooperation of such wonderful artists in presenting these outstanding concerts. In addition, we will again present exhibitors from around the world displaying the latest in strings, music, instruments and accessories.
