Waireka Croquet Club who attended the NZ<br />
Master’s Tournament in Dunedin. Twelve<br />
players played golf croquet and one association<br />

President Joy welcomed seven members<br />
to our <strong>February</strong> meeting held in Linton<br />
Lounge, <strong>Ashburton</strong> RSA. One member was<br />
attending the National South Island Dahlia<br />
show at Waikouaiti on <strong>February</strong> 17. Table<br />

<strong>Ashburton</strong> Bowling Club<br />
The <strong>Ashburton</strong> men’s Championship<br />
Triples Final was played on <strong>February</strong> 15 and<br />
was avery tight match. It was won by Min Hill’s<br />
team with Peter Collins and Alastair Mackenzie.<br />
Congratulations to them and also to the<br />
gallant losers of Gavin Eder’s team. Well<br />
played everyone! The <strong>Ashburton</strong> ladies<br />
Championship Triples Final will be played<br />
today at 9.am. This long awaited final will be<br />
contested by Diane’s team –Laraine and Kath<br />
Muir against Leonie’s team – Barbara and<br />
Wendy. Good luck ladies! The remaining two<br />
ladies Championship Pairs quarter finals,<br />
weather permitting will have been played on<br />
Tuesday - more next week. The Ladies<br />
Championship Fours Final is still in abeyance.<br />
And our Ladies Drawn Pairs Competition<br />
scheduled for <strong>February</strong> 27 may make way for<br />
the progression of our championship pairs.<br />
Our Saturday Rollover Triples attracted a<br />
moderate attendance with two visitors from<br />
Auckland, Karen and Mike. The placings are:<br />
1st 2wins, 10 ends, 19 points TWatson, N<br />
Stuthridge, JKewish, 2nd 1win, 2draws, 12<br />
ends, 17 points CBird, Karen, CCorbett and<br />
3rd 1win, 1draw, 11 ends, 17 points WLee,<br />
AGibbs, Mike.<br />
Another reminder of our new initiative –<br />
Twilight Bowls –for new bowlers is under way!<br />
It is on Friday evenings. Up to adozen have<br />
been coming along and having fun. We are<br />
lucky to be sponsored by Tarbotton Land and<br />
Civil which is great! The evening finishes with<br />
aBBQ and prizes. Please contact president<br />

The postponed Inhouse comps, the Dorothy<br />
Cup (sponsored by Time for Diamonds)<br />
and the Murray Gray, have been combined<br />
with the Bird Cup and will be played on our<br />
closing day on March 24. The format has been<br />
notified to all our membership. Social Hour<br />
continues on Friday evenings as usual. And<br />
our friends from Hampstead Bowling Club are<br />
still part of our club. Good bowling everyone!<br />
<strong>Ashburton</strong> MSA Petanque Club<br />
During the week we hosted Timaru Club<br />
for asocial day. We played drawn games and<br />
everyone kept their own score. The top eight<br />
players from <strong>Ashburton</strong> earned 474 points and<br />
Timaru earned 447 points. Top scorer for<br />
<strong>Ashburton</strong> was Adelys Taraunu with 75 points,<br />
and Ross Greene from Timaru had 72 points.<br />
This event was last held in 2017. On Saturday<br />
we held our men's and women's shooting<br />
contests. The men's was won by Adelys<br />
Taraunu with 33 points, and the women's by<br />
Karen Bensdorp with 21 points. Ten players<br />
took part in this. You are still welcome to join<br />
us on Tuesday and Thursday before 1p.m.<br />
Saturday the time is the same and you may<br />
like to make this afamily day. You would all be<br />
welcome.<br />
RESULTS<br />
Tinwald Cycling Club<br />
Para cyclist Jono Nelson claimed the major<br />
spoils in Tinwald Cycling Club’s, ANZCO Foods,<br />
48km handicap event around the Grahams Road<br />
block on Sunday. Starting of the front mark,<br />
Nelson didn’t let off, powering his way to victory<br />
to lift the McElhinney Trophy. The back markers<br />
stormed through the field to claim with minor<br />
prizes. Kyle Gray backed up last weeks win with<br />
second place and fastest time honours, riding the<br />
distance in 64.15. Michael Audeau was hot on his<br />
tail in third place and secured second time. The<br />
juniors and division 2contested a16km handicap<br />
race. Louie Audeau produced astrong ride to<br />
take the victors spoils in the junior event. He was<br />
pushed to the line by second place getter Jack<br />
Hooper. Oscar Gorrie who was caught in the<br />
shadow of the line was rewarded with third place.<br />
Big Brother Jack Gorrie took fastest time<br />
honours, riding the course in 26.54. Brian Ellis<br />
had the final say in division 2totake the win from<br />
Graham McDougall, and Alan Johns. Next week<br />
the club will travel to Hinds to contest a50km<br />
handicap event.<br />
Run and Walk <strong>Ashburton</strong><br />
Another successful week of running and<br />
walking. Over 80 participants enjoyed the balmy<br />
evening, with some taking time off last week's<br />
event. The children have shone and have<br />
enjoyed their run/walk. The one kilometre track<br />
around the <strong>Ashburton</strong> Domain gives participants<br />
the option of doing 1; 3; or 5kilometres. Some of<br />
the children have completed the 3kms in very<br />
good times. This week was the final week of the<br />
Summer Series <strong>2024</strong>. Ahuge thank you and<br />
shout out to the sponsors.<br />
