International Riesling day 13th <strong>March</strong> Riesling (pronounced reece-ling) is a real favourite amongst the industry, making some of the finest white wines on the planet. The grape variety is arguably most famous from Germany where it grows across all regions, however the French may have something to say about that with their stunning examples from Alsace, as well as Australia flying the flag for the southern hemisphere. Riesling is famous for its zippy acidity and diversity in styles, from lusciously sweet, to a mouth tingling bone-dry. It is because of this acidity that German Riesling is so wonderfully fresh, elegant and an excellent partner for food. When it comes to ageing Riesling, many believe it is the best of all white grapes; even world-renowned wine critic Jancis Robinson believes Riesling’s “are almost immortal”.
