summer.
Reemtsma, a Central DeWitt Community
High School senior, won his class and
grand champion overall. A member of the
DeWitt Hustler’s 4-H club, Reemtsma has
been around cattle his whole life. He and
his dad care for an 80-head herd just outside
of DeWitt, and he has been showing
since he started 4-H eight years ago.
He bought his market heifer, affectionately
named Becky, from the Miller family
in Wyoming. Becky showed in just two
shows before the Iowa State Fair, winning
Champion Market Heifer in both rings at
the Badger Brawl in Wisconsin in December
2022 and placing 2nd in her class at
the Iowa Beef Expo.
Winning this year meant a lot to Reemtsma,
who said both sides of his family
were there to cheer him on.
