LASTING CONTRIBUTIONS A good name lives on Farmer, umpire, father, husband, cattleman and more, Paul Keitel believed in paying it forward, even while fighting cancer BY JANE SCHMIDT EASTERN IOWA FARMER A farmer and umpire, Paul Keitel made a difference in Eastern Iowa, as well as across the state. Keitel passed in January 2022 of Large B Cell Lymphoma at the age of 62 after living 54 years on his farm south of DeWitt. He is among the Eastern Iowa farmers who have provided lasting contributions to the community through their life work, giving the next generation a strong foundation for success. Born Jan. 13, 1960, Keitel grew up on the farm purchased by his parents in 1950. His dad passed away shortly before his twin siblings were born, leaving 11 children to be cared for by his mother.
