“The funniest part is cover crops<br />
came out when he was 80 years old,<br />
and he’s the one who pushed us to do<br />
that. He was always on the cutting<br />
edge,” Pat said. “He was doing things<br />
nobody else was doing.”<br />

Like many farmers in Eastern Iowa,<br />
they managed to combine the relentless<br />
schedule of caring for livestock,<br />
keeping equipment repaired, planting<br />
and harvesting with giving back to<br />
their community.<br />
