1999 Prowler
Car owner: Charles and Samantha Alicea
Car: 1999 Plymouth Prowler
We took these photos on the western shore of Lake Olathe. It was a bit windy and we were on
gravel which made it a bit tricky to keep this beauty clean throughout the shoot.
Charles and Samantha are the owners of this 1999 Plymouth Prowler. This car has a color change
“Ghost Flame” paint job. Under the hood it sports a 3.5L V-6 engine that produces 253 HP, a
4-speed automatic transmission and open wheel design with an independent suspension. It has
17” tires and rims in the front and 20” in the back. This prowler also has a built-in radar detector
as well as a Soundstream sound system, 6 JBL speakers and a removable hard top. Since this shoot
was done, the Prowler has had a front bumper delete and a trailer hitch added to it. There have been
thoughts about replacing the front grille, but the cost has been an issue. There are also plans to
upgrade the sound system.
Charles and Samantha bought the Prowler in 2021 from Briggs Auto in Manhattan, KS. It already
had the Ghost Flames paint and the Cat on the trunk when it was purchased. When asked
about what gratification is felt from showing the car, Charles replied, “A lot of people don’t see
many cars like this.” “Most younger kids have never seen this type of car before.” “It definitely turns
heads when we are driving around in it.” “We get a lot of “thumbs up” when we drive around in it.”
A lot of the shows the Aliceas attend are for charities because they believe in giving something
back to the community. They first started going to car shows when Charles owned a 2001 Ford
SVT Lightning pickup. Later it was traded in for a 2007 Corvette Z06. After a while it was sold
in order to purchase the Prowler. Charles and Samantha enjoy going to car shows to meet people
that share a common interest and to see all of the mods that have been done to the cars at the show.
They attend around 20 to 25 shows per season and try to make it a point to attend new shows for
the first time. They regularly attend “Cars in the Park” at Shawnee Mission Park in October. The
show benefits the Special Olympics. Other notable shows are the Wichita, KS car show, the Fuel
House show and a car show in Emporia, KS.
Charles and Samantha’s hobbies include hunting and shooting. When asked about what vehicle
they would buy they both agreed that they would want another Corvette. However Samantha says
that she wants a C8 Vette and Charles wants another Z06 Vette. I could see them both in his and
hers Vettes!
Charles and Samatha would like to give a special shout out to Tim and Robin Dellinger (Chiefs
Truck on cover of EMPSC issue 17)!
Car owner: Ronald Dale Geer Jr.
Car: 1969 Dodge Charger
1 9 6 9 Charger
The photos were taken at the scenic Riverside Waterfall in Riverside, MO, not far from the
Argosy Casino and Hotel. The day was partly cloudy with good visibility.
Dale is the proud owner of this classic 1969 Dodge Charger in black. This car sports a
440 V-8 Magnum engine with a FITECH EFI fuel injection six pack manifold. It nominally
generates 395 HP@4700 RPM or higher depending on the fuel injection configuration. The
charger has (20”???) generic Cragar style wheels on BF Goodrich tires. It also has a bluetooth
radio that has a retro classic look as well as power windows that are activated with a
window switch that looks like a classic window crank handle and power door locks. Future
mods include adding heated seats, a lumbar support and air conditioning.
This beautiful Charger has an awesome origin story. Dale won it as a grand prize when
he bought a Resto Mods T-shirt during the Resto Mods #9 giveaway! Dale bought the shirt
because he owns a 1970 Charger as well. This took place back in 2020 during COVID, so
he had to wait to go out to California to get the car. They did some photo and video shoots
of him accepting the car. Afterwards Resto Mods shipped the car to Dale here in the Midwest.
Dale commented “most everyone stops and looks when I drive it on the road.” “Its like
walking around with the prettiest woman in the room on your arm.” “Everybody and their
brother is looking at you in this cool car.” “You feel so lucky to be the one driving the car.”
Dale doesn’t race the car but he gets a lot of kids that want to race him sometimes when he
takes it out for a drive. Dale attends 5 or 6 car shows per season, mostly for charities. They
get Christmas gifts to take to hospitals among other things. Annually attended shows are
usually Ottawa, KS, Bass Pro/ Cabelas in KCK, and other various shows if time permits.
His main hobby is working on antique and classic cars. Dale also flies drones and tinkers
with electronics. He likes to build animated house decorations for Halloween and Christmas.
If money was no object, Dale says that he would buy a full sized flyable SW-51 kit airplane
that is a replica of the WWII P-51 Mustang Fighter Plane.
Other cars in Dale’s collection are a 1970 Dodge Charger and a 1967 MGB GT restored
hard top in pearl blue. This is the car Dales parents used to teach him how to work on cars
and has been in his family since he was 6 years old.
Dale feels extremely lucky to win this car. “After years of helping others it feels good to
have some good fortune come my way.”
1967 Barracuda
Car owner: Larry Sterm
Car: 1967 Plymouth Barracuda Fastback
Our shoot took place in the Crossroads District in Kansas City, MO on the blocks of 18th
and Cherry near an ivy covered wall as well as 17th & Locust in front of a mural on a beautiful
sunny day.
Larry is the owner of this iconic 1967 Plymouth Barracuda Fastback. The color is B5 blue.
It has a 6.7 liter 410 cu stroker V-8 engine that produces 490 HP@6800 RPM A 3-speed
automatic transmission, 15” Weld Drag White rims with Cooper Cobra tires. It also has
a Retro Sound bluetooth radio with 4 speakers Future mods will include adding a 4 speed
transmission and getting the car race ready.
When Larry was 16, he owned a blue Barracuda Fastback with white interior. His wife
told him that if he ever found another one that he could get it. As luck would have it, Larry
found a very similar car rotting out in a barn in Arkansas back in 2019. Larry said that the
owner wanted $6,000 for it. Larry offered him $2,500 and to his surprise the owner accepted
the deal. Larry then trailered the car back home. Larry and his brother Chuck did a full restoration
on the car during the COVID shutdown in 2020. Larry commented; “It feels good
knowing that I restored the car myself.” “I have had over 200 cars in my life, I have been buying
and selling cars since I was 16.” “It is my pass time.” “ I enjoy going to shows, talking to
car people and looking at other cars.” Some of the shows Larry attends regularly are Ottawa,
KS, Marie’s River Run, Streetcar Takeover, Wednesday nights at Big Boy Burgers and Saturday
nights at Noland Road.
Larry likes to go camping when time permits. If money wasn’t an issue he says the vehicle
he would buy is a green 1971 Dodge Sweptline pickup. Larry would like to give a special
shout out to his brother and best friend Chuck!
Lilith
Car owner: Shannon Juicek
Car: 2022 Jeep Wrangler Unlimited 4x4
We shot photos of Lilith on the north banks of the Missouri River in Parkville, MO were
the river itself is the state line that divides the states of Missouri and Kansas
Jeep Wranglers have been on the road since 1986. They are the descendent of the WWII
jeep made by Willy’s Kaiser-Jeep and American Motors Corporation (AMC) from the mid-
1940’s through the 1980’s when AMC was purchased by Chrysler in 1987.
Shannon is the proud owner of Lilith, a 2022 Jeep Wrangler Unlimited 4x4 that she purchased
from Olathe Dodge in May of 2022. She features a 285 HP 3.6 liter V6 engine with
an 8 speed automatic transmission a suspension that has a 3 inch lift. She has Fuel brand
rims and 35” Cosmo brand Mud Kicker tires. Her factory paint color is “GOBI” as in the
color of the GOBI desert which stretches across the borders of Mongolia and China in
central Asia.
Shannon and her husband Martin have spent some time off roading in the Jeep. They took
her to Kansas Rocks (off road) Recreation Park in Mapleton, KS . They had to deflate the
tires a bit to run through various levels of basic, intermediate and extreme trails along with a
group of other vehicles and thrill seekers. They even did a small drop off from a rock. Lilith’s
doors and roof come off to create a unique open air , uninhibited experience. In fact her all
weather capabilities were put to the test once when it was rained on overnight when the roof
was off.
The Lilith jeep got her name from the video game character “Lilith” in the Diablo IV
game series . The avatar was both the inspiration for the jeep name and for the red accents
on the jeep. Lilith is primarily used as a companion utility vehicle to “Sinner” a 2009 Dodge
Challenger that was a featured on the cover of EMPSC Issue 17. The Wrangler is used to
transport items and props that are used when the Challenger is being displayed at car shows.
However lilith does participate each fall in annual Trunk or Treat events.
Shannon says that some mods that have been done to the jeep are halos with red accents, a
custom sound system, skulls with red eyes on the front bumper and a toy duck collection on
the dashboard. Future mods may include raising the lift on the jeep up to 6 inches as well as
more lights.
