STUDENT POLICIES
At the meeting, the head will explain the nature and severity of the
charge against the student and listen to the student’s explanation or
rebuttal of the charges. The head of Student Life may then:
u reach a decision on the charge, either with or without further
investigation, and assign an appropriate sanction or sanctions; or
u convene a hearing panel to investigate the charge and advise
the head regarding the student’s culpability and, if the student is
judged to be guilty of the charge, the appropriate penalty will be
imposed.
The Office of Student Life will review all cases where suspension or
dismissal is considered. Upon receipt of the head of Student Life’s
recommendation, the Vice President will make the final determination
as to suspension or dismissal.
Appeals Process
To appeal a decision on administrative discipline, the student must write
to the Head of Student Life within seven days of receipt of the decision,
outlining the grounds for their appeal. If the Head of Student Life
determines that the case requires further review, the Head of Student
Life may form a review committee to evaluate the case. During the
period of appeal, the student is not yet adjudged guilty of the offense
and is required to attend all classes.
Petition for Readmission Following Suspension
To petition for reentry following suspension, the student must write
to the Head of Student Life. The petition must demonstrate that the
student has learned a lesson from the suspension and will not engage
in the prohibited behavior again.
To be eligible to petition for reentry, the student must have been in
