The Sugar and Stamp Acts caused Colonial merchants to stop trading with Britain and Parliament<br />

repealed the Stamp Act. Charles Townsend formed the Townsend Acts and Board of Custom<br />

Commissioners to collect taxes. The Massachusetts Assembly sent a letter of grievance to the<br />

Colonists. Parliament ordered it destroyed, but the Assembly refused and Britain sent troops.<br />

opposition to the Intolerable Acts.<br />
