This program tells the story of Chapultepec: from long before there was a castle, in the time of the
Toltecs, to the arrival of the Aztecs; the building of Tenochtitlan; the siege by the Spanish and the
destruction of the Aztec civilization. In 1785, the castle was built as a residence for the viceroy, and served
for many years as a military stronghold. It fell in 1847, during the Mexican-American war. Finally it was
made into a museum in 1944.
